Guest guest
I have replied about this drug before. Luvox/Fluvoxamine is the only SSRI that I have ever taken, and it left me with complete PSSD (including absent libido, low genital sensitivity, and weak erections). It did help my OCD, but, if you are not willing to risk your sexual functioning, I wouldn't try this drug. Warren > > I am looking into Luvox/Fluvoxamine. > > It seems that this particular SSRI is different from the others in that it has the shortest > half-life (15.6 hours) and negligible affinity for the dopamine transporter, meaning it has little effect on Dopamine. It is the larger role that the other SSRI's play on Dopamine that has been theorized to lead to this PSSD, at least in some reports I have read. I have also read that one of the biggest offenders Prozac, has the longest half life (2-3 days) and this could be partially responsible for the prolonged side effects after stopping the medication. > > I have browsed the internet and several reports, studies, aticles state that it has less sexual side effects than other SSRI's. Of course there are still reports of sexual dysfunction from some, but they are few and far between compared to the other SSRI's. I have also not come across any PSSD posts regarding Luvox specifically. > > The official website actually promotes the " Low incidence of sexual adverse events " as a marketing feature or a pro if you will. > > So I am really looking for some feedback on this specific SSRI, if it is in fact an exception to the usual sexual side effects from SSRI's and more importantly an exception to PSSD. > > I have read a lot of posts here and a lot of people have said they are not necessarily against SSRI's specifically, but just certain brands due to the high incidence of reported PSSD etc. > > Any info or insight is much appreciated. I have severe, treatment resistant anxiety/OCD and have suffered for years. I am on some medications that blunt the symptoms some of the time but nothing that has packed a real hard punch and given me any chance of my life back. > > I know this is support for PSSD but I do not want to be unsure of anything before starting a medication and am just doing my research and looking for general opinion/feedback. Guest guest
Ok thanks What was your dose and duration of treatment? Thanks...I may try Amitriptyline...is not a ssri and has lower incidence of sexual side effects due to negligible effects on dopamine. > > > > I am looking into Luvox/Fluvoxamine. > > > > It seems that this particular SSRI is different from the others in that it has the shortest > > half-life (15.6 hours) and negligible affinity for the dopamine transporter, meaning it has little effect on Dopamine. Guest guest
Luvox was the drug had in his system when he participated in the shootings at Columbine. Since then there have been black box warnings that this drug can cause mania and aggression. http://www.breggin.com/index.php?option=com_content & task=view & id=190 Dr. Breggin, in his book, " Medication Madness " , says that SSRIs don't only affect young people in this way. I wouldn't experiment on myself with ANY psychiatric drug. I've already been damaged enough: http://www.youtube.com/user/Kay1948 > > > > > > I am looking into Luvox/Fluvoxamine. > > > > > > It seems that this particular SSRI is different from the others in that it has the shortest > > > half-life (15.6 hours) and negligible affinity for the dopamine transporter, meaning it has little effect on Dopamine. Guest guest
It is possible that niacin and inositol can be helpful for anxiety and OCD. Maybe it's worth a try. > > > > > > > > I am looking into Luvox/Fluvoxamine. > > > > > > > > It seems that this particular SSRI is different from the others in that it has the shortest > > > > half-life (15.6 hours) and negligible affinity for the dopamine transporter, meaning it has little effect on Dopamine.
