Guest guest
Hi all, I'd like to take a very informal poll regarding well-being during pregnancy. I'm getting pretty tired of all the surprised reactions I get when people ask how I'm feeling and I answer " I feel great! " Most think I'm simply lucky; personally, I don't think it's luck at all (and I'm sure most of you will agree, lol!) How many of you who have been pg. (or have known preg. ladies on a WAP diet) had morning sickness? I had zero days of nausea. The only change is that I seem to need more sleep (8-9 hours rather than 6-7) which doesn't seem unhealthy to me at all. I guess this issue ties into what most American births are like...full of unnecessary interventions that essentially assume that women can't birth naturally and without major trauma. Guest guest
- >Share your thoughts! Well, I'm obviously not pregnant, and I think the only WAPF pregnancy I've really known of has been yours, but I think it's pretty obvious that due to the extreme nutritional demands of pregnancy, women eating crap diets are going to suffer right along with their kids. Price described pregnancy for the healthy natives he studied as something quite different from the pregnancies we see today. In fact, nowadays lots of women never entirely recover (surely you've noticed how much pregnancy ages the vast majority of women) and we have well-meaning ignorami like Shields advocating antidepressants for post-partum problems. Half of me thinks these people should be shot and the other half thinks they should be force-fed nutritious food. -

I didn't know about WAPF back then, but my last pregnancy was the WAPFiest and went the best. I had excellent access to organic foods. I taught step aerobics the entire time. DS was 8lb 13 oz and needed no " puff of O2 " that all the other babies did upon birth. His heart was noted by his OB to be healthy-sized - he got a jump start on aerobic fitness in the womb! He has a wide face with straight uncrowded teeth and is meaty, smart, creative and healthy. I started teaching my classes 2 weeks later and looked and felt great (especially legs). Guest guest
I am looking forward to seeing if WAP makes a big difference in my future pregnancies. I have was is called Hyper emesis when I am pregnant. Extreme morning sickness to the point of starvation and organ failure. I have had it thru all 3 of my pregnancies so far. My last pregnancy was the easiest after I had switched to all organic/whole foods BUT it was still VERY bad. I did not have to be hospitalized but I was in bed for 5 months and lost a lot of weight. So for me pregnancy is NOT a good feeling. I am " slightly " looking forward to my next pregnancy to see if it is any better but not expecting it to be. You said that you don't have any nausea. I would be interested to see if anyone had nausea in other PG's but not in one after starting WAP. Did eat better comparatively to first. Walked 1/2 mile to work and felt my hormones were better balanced. Wanita
Guest guest
I have a friend who is not NT but she is an aerobics instructor. I know she is low-fat but otherwise a pretty healthy eater. She is having a great pregnancy, teaching classes, plenty of energy, etc. Maybe it's the exercise. Elaine >> I'd like to take a very informal poll regarding well-being during >> pregnancy. Guest guest
My pregnancy was GREAT! I felt fine the whole time. I didn't have any cravings or aversions. I *would* fall asleep around 7:30 p.m. if I wasn't moving, though. LOL I wasn't eating high fat then, but I had already learned the value of using unprocessed foods rather than processed foods, and I knew that transfats are harmful and tried to avoid them. I had been using butter for about 7 years before I got pregnant.

Before I found this advice, I was feeling slightly nauseous, but once I started eating more protein, it did improve. I drank a quart of raw milk for most of my pregnancy, and ate a lot of eggs. However, I didn't take any CLO, and I did eat protein bars with ISP <cringe>. I felt great, did a lot of walking and pilates, and only worked part-time from home. Up to the last week, I was able to get in and out of my Miata convertible, and I never got that feeling of being too big and needing my own zip code. > I guess this issue ties into what most American births are like...full > of unnecessary interventions that essentially assume that women can't > birth naturally and without major trauma. I spent most of my pregnancy researching this (I wish I had concentrated more on nutrition! Oh well), and decided to go " unassisted. " So that means I never visited a midwife or doctor. I did have a HHP, but we had a falling out because she was against my unassisted pregnancy. I almost had an unassisted birth, but I had 4 days of labor which kept me awake except for a few naps. After not sleeping for that long, on the following morning I decided to go to the hospital to have an ultrasound, only to give birth to dd about 30 minutes after arriving. Being in the hospital was the worst experience of my life, and believe me, the o.b. gave me hell for not seeing anyone. DD's position was posterior, face up, and I thank God that I was monitoring my own pregnancy, because with her position I was a good candidate for a cesarean. I was the only person to give birth without any medication that week, and everyone was just amazed (well, duh, if everyone would stay at home until the last minute where they feel *comfortable* they wouldn't need any drugs). My daughter is very strong, although she's gotten a bit skinny for my taste. Her teeth are straight, white, with lots of room between them. She was lifting her head the day she was born, and was an alert baby. Good luck with your pregnancy! Naomi
