Ravin,

the distance from ngp to hydrabad is about 480 kms.

if your top speed is 80 to 90 kmph, you will average

about 60 kmph, which means about eight hours

from here to there.

this is what it took my friend last week.

your travelling time may have its own variables ,like where

nayantara and nadana might want to stop

please check

p.s. my parking bay is still vacant

Anchita,

I do not feel the need for an additional child, especially in this context, a

son (neither does my wife, so I have taken care of it :-D). Though a number of

my relatives and friends do insist that a " son completes the family " .

And a cranky old uncle (he is 103 or so we believe, since he doesn't have a

birth certificate) says my soul will never reach heaven unless my pyre is lit by

a son! :-D

But, I really don't mind, my daughters have given me enough joy I'm in heaven

right now. I love them.

Nayantara (13) and Nandana (7)...

As far as sweets were concerned we distributed plenty when they were born. In

fact I had hosted a cocktail dinner on each occasion.

Amen!

Dear Ravin,

When are you going to Hyderabad? I am also thinking of spending the New Year

in Ramoji city. Maybe we could link up there?

Dear Kishore,

We have our AIOS conference in February (1-4th), my junior colleague Dr Rahul

Shukla and I are planning to drive down to Hyderabad.

Not for New Year, sorry...

However I'm really eager to meet you, maybe sometime in the near future,

somewhere... :-)

Hi Ravin,

We have been to Hy'bad recently, as our daughter is studying there. We might be

going to her School for Annual day in Feb. but am not sure of dates.

The road is mostly very good. You don't have to go to Chandrapur. Divert to

right towards Hinganghat at Jam. Then there is no change of direction.

However, the traffic in Hy'bad is horrible.

If you have free time there, go to Paradise restaurant in Secunderabad for

wonderful and famous Biryani. Or if you don't mind congested surroundings then

have typical hyderabadi food near Charminar.

You can drop in at my clinic/res for breakfast/lunch/dinner/tea on way to

Hy'bad.

There is lot of time yet(to fine tune the programme).

Bye,

Dear Sanjay,

Thanks for the info. I don't know where Chandrapur crossed my mind. I know it is

not on NH7.

I have been to Hyderabad a number of times, only once by road that too took a

bus from Nagpur.

Apart from Paradise and it's biryani, I like Universal's burgers (MG road),

Hotel Banjara's Telangana special dishes, a Chinese restaurant on Park Lane that

sells lovely Hong Kong sea food dishes (I don't remember the name of the

restaurant) and the lovely nawabi style food and ambience at Hotel Basera (the

restaurant is called Savera, I think).

I'll be staying at my friend's place in Secunderabad. My SIL too stays in

Secunderabad, but I wont be going there.

I am likely to cross Nagpur at around 11 am (too late for breakfast and too

early for lunch) so I shall be dining (lunching) at Jamb. I remember some good

dhabas there from our eye camp days.

Thanks for the offer. Will definitely visit you some other time. As of now we

are planning on leaving Jabalpur at 6 am on the 31st of January 2007

(Wednesday).

Dear Kishore,

For the usual stuff widely promoted as tourist attractions in Hyderabad - Birla

Mandir, Qutub Shahi Tombs, the 13th Century Golkonda Fort, Salarjung Museum (the

largest single collection of priceless antiques in the world), the Nehru

Zoological Park (India's largest zoo), Mecca Masjid (the second largest mosque

in India and the seventh largest in the world), Nizam Jubilee Pavilion and

Lumbini Park are all worth a visit.

The fort, museum and the tombs are closed on Fridays and the zoo on Mondays.

On the way to Ramoji film city visit the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple, Sanghi Temple.

Ramoji film city itself has 3 and 5 star accommodation and lovely food courts.

About 150 kms from Hyderabad is the Nagarjuna Sagar, the world's largest masonry

dam. Etipotala waterfalls nearby is an ideal picnic spot. Cruise over Krishna to

the Nagarjuna Konda Museum (Buddhist relics and artefacts).

You could also see the Hi-tech city.

I have a very close friend in Secunderabad, let me know when you are leaving, I

shall SMS you his cell numbers in case you need any help.

I've never been to Hyderabad but being from Andhra..... one of the things

not to miss as in street food is 'cut mirchi' basically mirchi bhajji

(pakoras) with lemon/onions etc--- I enjoy it. often when visiting in-laws

at Cuddapah we sneak out and buy these frpom the street vendors.

Dear Kishore,

Hotels are one thing I have never really bothered about in Hyderabad, since I

have either stayed at my SIL's or my friend's or my friend's parents' place.

However Taj Banjara (Banjara Hills) overlooking it own lake is a lovely place.

Ravin sir

I know you are a food fanatic, and in Hyderabad, you have to try the dosas

there.. there is this famous restaurant called as " chutney's " and their

speciality is the " chiranjeevi dosa " , a recipe inspired by the superstar

Chiranjeevi himself...!!!

check this archive article on rediff on the same

http://in.rediff.com/getahead/2006/mar/17rest.htm

my brother in law was in Hyderabad and he said, that Chutneys is an awesome

place.. and if you go to south India.. then you have to have tons of idlis

and dosas...!!!
