Hi everyone,

I just turned 46 yesterday and have been down with pneumonia and all

its ailments for the last 2 weeks. I am getting much better now but

this is something that I seem to get more than a person should! I

let my shot lapse 2 years without really giving it any thought until

I got sick. My question is this, can anyone give me any tips on

getting my system resistant to these ailments? I am trying to find

sights that will teach me but for the life of me, most of them are

worded in such a way I just cant understand! Some of the stuff they

speak of, I have never even heard of! I live in rural Louisiana

and am sure we don't have a lot of the more fancy stuff. I just

want to get healthy in as much of a natural way that I can. Any help

will be most appreciated. I am sick and tired of being sick and

tired! Thanks for any advice anyone can share.

Dear Kathy,

Welcome to our list. If you haven't already, you should read some of

the articles on www.westonapricefoundation.org. Start with

http://www.westonaprice.org/nutrition_guidelines/dietary_guidelines.html

for a basic overview of the nutritional philosophy that will improve

your health greatly. Our way of eating doesn't depend on " fancy "

food--I'm sure you'll be able to locate healthy, traditional foods

down in LA.

BTW--stay away from flu shots! Check out http://chetday.com/noflushots.htm

My 1 year old daughter had pneumonia last year, and it was an uphill battle

restoring her health. (She got it AFTER 3 rounds of antibiotics for ear

infections!) At any rate, now that we know better, we've tried a lot to restore

her gastrointestinal health, which seems to have greatly improved her resistance

and her ability to recover quickly. The bronchitis she had recently was over in

5 days ! A miracle, when most of our friends who got this upper respiratory

stuff going around have been sick for 3-4 weeks.

At any rate, I would get some really serious probiotics going. Dietary-wise

that would be kefir and kraut/kimchi. Supplement wise something like Primal

Defense is hard to beat. (You can get this online, even on Ebay sometimes !)

Bromelaine (enzyme) really helped my daughter with her upper respiratory stuff,

although it seemed to work better when taken between regular meals, on as empty

of a stomach as possible. Also, complete elimination of sugar and starches.

They totally suppress your immune system. Finally, we consume tons of NT style

broth.

Getting back your health takes time, and we're beginning to see some of the

benefits here, thankfully!
