Guest guest
I have a question for anyone: I am confused about the consistency of what people mean by the terms they use—so, could some people respond to my description of my experiences below--by matching it with the terms commonly used on this blog site—to see if we all have the intended meaning for the same terms. When the term genital anesthesia is used by those posting on this blog site are they referring to the constant abnormal feeling in the genitals that feels like ones genitals are not there—or, are they referring to the lack of pleasure from sexual stimulation—or are they referring to the lack of sensation corresponding to the rare times that some can achieve a partial ejaculation where they are often are not aware they ejaculated until they see the results as there is not a feeling that it happened—or are they referring to the fact it takes extraordinary amount of time and more aggressive stimulation to have any chance at eventually ejaculating—and even this frequently doesn’t work—so, are they referring to the inability to ejaculate at all—no matter how much they try? Do the above descriptions correspond to anyone else’s experiences? By the way I went several years after first developing PSSD where I never could ejaculate—no matter how long and how vigorous the stimulation—but, I have only gained some marginal improvement—which is so unsatisfying and frustrating that I try to avoid attempting any sexual activity. But, prior to stopping ssri-anti-depressants I experienced the onset of the opposite that I am describing above—where I was exceedingly over sensitive to stimulation and would ejaculate within about ten seconds of starting sexual activity—which left me frustrated that the pleasure was for such a short amount of time—that I started to avoid sexual activity. Has any one experience these two extreme of overly sensitive while on antidepressants—then the onset of the opposite extreme after stopping anti-depressants? What do people on this blog mean when they use the term genital shrinkage or just shrinkage? Are you referring to a measurable reduction of your genital size—specifically your penis length and girth--compared to pre-anti-depressant use-- while experiencing an erection? Or, are you referring to genital retraction reflex action that normally is only to occur when exposed to cold or when squatting down—where the muscles in both the penis and scrotum shorten things--which in our case may be occurring abnormally—and, way to frequent or occurring all the time? The reason I asked is that I am experiencing the shriveling up of both my penis and scrotum—like the genital retraction reflex—except it is occurring all the time to some degree--with a corresponding unusual pain that is not like anything I have ever felt anywhere else on my body and had never felt before until recently—I find this pain impossible to describe as it is so unusual and I have not heard anyone describe it before—I would not mention this but that it is very distracting. I am confused as to whether this symptom is related to PSSD or just something that showed up at same time with some other cause like some pinched nerve or something—but, I thought I might mention it in this forum to see if others are familiar with it—just in case it has some connection to the medication that caused my standard PSSD symptoms. Has any one experienced any non sexual changes at same time as developing PSSD—such as the following? I developed severe insomnia about the same time I was taking the anti-depressants that cause my PSSD. I tried many different sleep aid medications—but, none helped. So decided to try large amounts of alcohol to see if that would help with getting some sleep. The alcohol did not help—but, I did learn that I had developed a very high tolerance for alcohol. This high tolerance for alcohol lasted for some time where my tolerance for alcohol was so high I could not get intoxicate until after I had consumed about 16 ounces of whisky/bourbon in a two hour period—which happened each of the 3-4 times I tried alcohol--until I gave up on trying to get any sleep from using alcohol. By the way I have rarely consumed alcohol before or since trying it to get over my insomnia after taking the anti-depressants that also caused my PSSD. And so I continue to experience severe insomnia every night and day and am consequently exhausted all the time.
