Guest guest
I am looking for sources of traditional Alaskan seafood recipes, with a strong focus on salmon. They should contain ingredients that reflect the natural habitat and adjacent tribes. Online, I'm running into Alaskan recipes that contain soy sauce, brown sugar, white wine, and sour cream - none of the ingredients reflect the culture and many of them are processed to boot. If you can help, thank you very much!
Guest guest
Here's a really interesting link about the far north American Indians lifestyle. It's copies of articles written by the explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson about his life with Inuit in the early 1900's. From what he writes, the Inuit didn't have recipes per se. They ate their fish boiled (no salt), or raw. Maybe some tribes further to the south had recipes more in line with modern tastes? http://www.biblelife.org/stefansson1.htm All the best, Jan > > > I am looking for sources of traditional Alaskan seafood recipes, with > a strong focus on salmon. > > They should contain ingredients that reflect the natural habitat and > adjacent tribes. > > Online, I'm running into Alaskan recipes that contain soy sauce, > brown sugar, white wine, and sour cream - none of the ingredients > reflect the culture and many of them are processed to boot. > > If you can help, thank you very much!
