Guest guest
I guess an award was in order, for attending three reunions in a row ( with more to follow), but Poonam, with typical generosity, gave return gifts to everybody, so everybody had an award :-) At the outset, it has to be three cheers for Shiv Kumar - Poonam's husband - for having put in untiring, enthusiastic efforts to make the reunion a grand success ! He is not an alumnus of MGIMS, but, as those of us who have been with him in Riyadh will know, he believes it is his responsibility to make anyone from MGIMS feel at home. If anyone deserved an award, it was him. Total attendance was 42 out of a batch of 64. I don't know whether it is the highest ever, but it is quite high. Day one - Breakfast at Yatri Niwas, tour of sewagram ashram, lunch at staff club with the faculty, followed by the main function. Day 2 - Picnic at bor dam - entertainment courtesy Hanumant patil and Prashant lonare followed by Delicious Dinner at Poonam and Shiv Kumar's house . !!!!!!!! Prosperity was evident among the attendees. Nadu (Amulya) was in Nehruvian attire - dressed for Gandhi-land ! came half way around the globe with her tremendously active 3 year old son. Boy, that was determination to make it to the reunion ! I wouldn't have had the courage to brave airline delays + jet lag + tired 3 year old + feeding tired 3 year old + reunion excitement, all at one go. Way to go, ! Fali and Anu were there, from New Zealand, with their children - Rehaan and Ashaad. Absolutely adorable children. Rehaan is the quintessential GOOD boy - a mother's dream ! Ashaad is a Maths whiz, and a whiz at picking up enough hindi in two days to tide him through the reunion - an absolute survivor ! Malini had come with her children, Neha and Naren. Neha plays the guitar wonderfully, and Naren has this amazing sense of humor, and is an absolute live wire ! Malini ought to be proud of both of them ! Sanjay Ingley and Aradhana had come with Shreya and Rohan. Shreya is beautiful - takes right after her mother, I guess. Ravin made it with family - even though he had to pick up his daughter right from school, where she was appearing for an exam, and drive straight to Sewagram ! Way to go, Ravin ! Manoj Sharma was there, and believe it or not, he is now an income tax commissioner ! Noel Barbosa, proudly single, came in from Goa. There was Vithal Rao - his daughter is very sweet. Sharmila Kanthale was the anchor for the felicitation programme. When it was Dr. Ulhaas Jajoo's turn, she announced that the girls used to go 'haaaaaiiiiii' when he wore his pink shirt - and Dr.Jajoo went as pink as the aforementioned shirt ! Seema Pruthi was there - she was glowing, and her hair has grown longer and thicker ! Nanda Jain was her same calm self, Kalavati Jadhav was there, Manjusha Poal hasn't changed a bit. Her daughter is very, very sweet. Sushma mooley hasn't changed either, though her hair is shorter now. Sanjay Nicose, Mukesh Varma, Hanumant Patil, Prashant Lonare were all there with their families. Rakesh Kapuria is just the same. Many many more ....... will continue in my next mail Cheers, Prabha PS. Anuradha Gokarn '83, Aradhana Gupta'84 and me '84 were the non 82 batch spouses attending the 82 batch reunion, so we had a mini reunion of our own ! shyamkamath wrote: Welcome back,Prabha after attending the Third straight reunion at Sewagram.. Guest guest
That was a lovely update of the reunion and with promise of ,still much to follow, along with the photos,Seema seems to be eagerly waiting for the next part of ur wonderful described mail..... The attendance looked good as well.. Yes,Shivkumar would feed the young, homesick MGIMSians every Friday, here in Riyadh,by personally picking each one of us... early morning and then dropping back us all in the evening... and that would help us all... spend those initial days out here with ease... Hope,u hear more of that....soon.. Shyam(84) Re: Happy Christmas ...!! Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to all !!!
