Guest guest
Last week I had a fairly serious Lyme flare, so I didn't work out at all. I'm feeling pretty much back to normal now, except that on Monday I was only able to do half of my normal squat-based workout (100 one-legged squats instead of 200, etc.) and even today I'm STILL sore as all get-out. I just started my pushup-and-pullup workout, which I postponed by a day because I was _so_ ridiculously sore, and I already know I'm going to be very sore from this one too, and it's quite possible it will also wind up being a half-sized workout. Is this a normal consequence of taking a sick week off? Is there something else more ominous going on? The only thing I can think of is that I stopped taking supplementary glutamine for my digestion. -

I don't know about one week, but I took 6 weeks off or so, pretty much, during fasting/anti-fungal, etc, and I lost, maybe 80 pounds of my bench press max (guessing my higher-rep sets). Most of my muscle mass loss happened *after* I started eating, too. When I started going back, I was SUPER-sore for doing a much less strenuous workout than normal. Glutamine will probably help. I'm gaining fast, and you will probably see your self gain very fast for a few weeks. Since I'm doing body weight exercises, I don't have any easy metric, but my usual routine is to do lower body (squats) on Mondays and Thursdays and upper body (pushups and pullups) on Tuesday and Friday. On Monday, like I said, I was only able to do half my normal workout, and on Tuesday I was incredibly sore, so between that and the MCT-induced diarrhea I postponed Tuesday's workout to Wednesday. I actually wound up completing a full upper body workout then, but I've been quite sore since then. Yesterday I did a full squat workout without that much trouble, but today when I went to do my pullups, it practically felt like my muscles were tearing apart. I think I'll just double up on the pushups and skip the rest of the pullups entirely. I stopped taking glutamine even though it was useful for my digestion because my appetite was starting to be affected, suggesting excitotoxicity, which I'd been worried about since the beginning. I decided to try a box of Threelac, though, and so far that seems to be helpful. -
