Guest guest
Yeah, I was on Paxil too for awhile and though I didnt get tremors my whole body would suddenly " jump " every so often. Weird. I also gained over 50 lbs FAST on Paxil. Most of the time I felt pretty good on Paxil, but if something set me off into depression I felt REALLY horrible emotionally. I havent had any negative effects on Celexa either. It keeps you at a nice even keel most of the time. > Hi, > > I've never heard of Lexapro but am very interested as I have been > taking Celexa for years now. Guest guest
Courage, i just wanted to jump in with a word of warning for anyone taking or thinking of coming off Paxil (Seroxat). This drug has to be monitored very closely when first starting it and when coming off of it. This drug has been proven, both medically and through the courts, to have resulted in a lot of peoples suicide, now Glaxo, and Klein continue to deny this but to date it has cost them millions upon millions of pounds/dollars in damages. I don't want to alarm anyone but as with all drugs i would urge caution with this. .x Re: LEXAPRO Hi, I've never heard of Lexapro but am very interested as I have been taking Celexa for years now. Guest guest
, It's been about 6 years for me, but early on in my " disease " after the original rounds of blood tests turn up negative - of course, the drs. took the easy way out and prescribed me anti-depressants. I can look back and know that I had CFS issues prior to my last pregnancy but after delivering my 4th child in 2000 - it really did me in and I have been much worse since that time. So, I gave it a shot to humor them and I found it to be the worst thing I did! I hadn't felt depressed UNTIL I took the SSRI anti-deperessants (of which Lexapro is one of that type). I felt way more fatigues, tired, sleepy - the eyes rolling back in the head as you sit there kind of sleepy. I wanted to stay in bed all day, I couldn't hold a decent conversation. I was good for nothing. So after about 5 months - where I only flet worse, not better I weaned myself off of them SLOWLY (never do it quickly - you'll very likely regret it!!!) Never again. I realize all people are different and I'm not putting down anyone's choice to use these drugs but they were a nightmare for me. Unfortunately, all too often the doctors just want to blame our fatigue, chronic pain, etc. on depression. I had to switch primary care drs. because he didn't take me seriously after this. And the dr. I have now - although she doesn't really know how to help me - realizes that some of the " autoimmune " type blood work and unexplained fevers I have are not caused by depression! Good luck , - I would say it is no coincidence that you have noticed a connection. If you do decide to wean off of the anti-D's please, please do ti slowly and carefully. There is a lot of ant--SSRI research out there on the internet. I can direct you to some if you would like. Kate -------------- Original message -------------- Does anyone else take Lexapro? I take that and Welbutrin. I have decided that my dh has to put up with enough from me with this disease and that the nonexistent libido is not fair. So, I have quit taking the Lexapro. When one of my family members started on Lexapro, they said it made them tired. Now that I am off of it, I am thinking that I feel more alert (still no libido, LOL!) Guest guest
All I take right now is a little Doxepin (Sinequan) at night to help me sleep, and it really does work well. I've never been able to tolerate the newer types of prescription drugs. It seems the more chemicals I use the worse I get, so the more natural I can be, the better. Once when I tried a Paxil, I was violently awakened in the night with all sorts of jerking and shaking movements. It was truly frightful and I have never taken that again. Guest guest
Thanks Kate, The interesting thing is that I was on Prozac for years and Celexa after that. The only reason I switched to Lexapro was because I got 2 years of it free from a cousin of a friend who was a rep. I mean who can pass it up if it is free? Of course I checked with my Dr. first and we both felt that they were probably interchangeable. So, I am thinking that it was definitely the Lexapro specifically or maybe it is just my miracle remission. Guest guest
Hi Kate and , I absolutely cannot take antidepressants – they always shove them at us like a miracle cure – even thought I’ve never been diagnosed as anything more than “dysthymic” which anyone with health problems is. They either turn me into a “Stepford wife”, or make me agitated and crazy (like walking 2 ft. circles ‘till 3 in the afternoon saying “What should I do? – over and over, after ½ dose paxil the night before – when I didn’t take it, the next day I was fine). Now they get so offended when they offer the latest model and I “just say no”!LOL. I have seen them do good when a depressed person (NOT an ME person) is lying in bed sucking their thumb, no offense, and crying nonstop for months. Then they sometimes help for the depression. Period. IMHO Aylwin xo

Guest guest
I meantioned it to kirstee about a antidepressant that can't be taken if pregnant and I believe it is lexapro....might be worth looking into ladies that love that kinda thing and have half a brain to do it.... Attorneys were advertising that if anyone used it while pregnant and produced a child with heart and other major internal abnormalities to contact them. Sorry for being so vague but to me it's dangerous not to know even if we ask before we take a perscription from a Doctor for this med. > I have the same problem, Lexapro drives me crazy. Guest guest
I was on Lexapro for 3 years. My dosage went from 10mg to 40mg over time. At first, I noticed that it was taking longer and longer for me to orgasm. Then after a few weeks, I would ejaculate but could not orgasm. I went off the drug 6 months ago and I still can't orgasm. I find it almost impossible to even ejaculate. I wish I had known about this side effect before I started taking Lexapro. It truly has ruined my sex life. I hope that time will restore what, to a married man, is a mark of virility and manhood.
Guest guest
I started on zoloft 24mg about 4 years ago, seemed to help with PE, but then the "benefical" side effects (delayed orgasim) went away. I went up to 75mg at some points, but again the side effect went away. I started on Paxil for a month, decided i just didnt want any of this stuff in my system. So im off all meds now. Dealing with the withdrawl, or whatever you call it isnt fun, and i done it a few times. I get little bolts of electricity (only way i can destribe it) once every few minutes. This usually goes away after a few weeks. Seeing a therapist now to address rapid ejaculation. I know you all are probably on much higher doses, for much longer periods of time, but i can tell you, dealing with PE, you will do anything to try and "fix" it. Even taking medications for thier side effects. In the long run it just wasnt a good option for me, but i have read that others get great results. For me it just boiled down to not wanting to be on meds for the rest of my life. That said, i wish i had some of these problems of no orgasim, sometimes. Guest guest
are you weaning off them now, or have you already done it? If you are, make sure to be extra careful about the dosage increments; step them down slowly and gradually, and don't ever go cold turkey.Plenty of comments I've read on this board give the impression that how you come off antidepressants could be a significant factor in the severity of the PSSD, ie slower is better. You want your brain to readjust before it's drug-naive. Just thought I should say, I'd hate to see another casualty for lack of foresight in that crucial moment.sorry for my retarded syntax I'm feelign a little off at the moment. From: Dan Bachelor Subject: Re: Re: lexaproTo: SSRIsex Received: Wednesday, 9 September, 2009, 1:00 PM I started on zoloft 24mg about 4 years ago, seemed to help with PE, but then the "benefical" side effects (delayed orgasim) went away. Guest guest
SSRI drugs are very dangerous. You could end up with diabetes or psychosis and suicidal behavior. Maybe you would be interested in dostinex/cabergoline. It will reduce the refractory period so you can have sex again a few seconds after orgasm. Guest guest
At some point you have to face the fact that PE is purely psychological (baring some prostate issue). That is some hard science to digest, and i admit that i ignored that possibility and pursued a drug treatment program instead of treating the mind. I am currently seeing a therapist and may bring my wife into my sessions as well. Fortunately, i have been off and on for some time, and on very low dosages, so hopefully i don't/wont have some of the issues discussed here on this board. I thought i would bring my perspective in becuase i know there are tons of guys out there being treated with Zoloft, paxil, etc to treat PE. I will take a look at dostinex cabergolin e. Thanks.
