Guest guest
Just thought I'd mention a series about Oliver's attempts to introduce healthy food to schools in the London area. I saw the second episode last night. It was disturbing to hear about the poor health of many children - a paediatric specialist was talking about children as young as five with severe digestive problems - although considering the diets he mentioned it wasn't surprising e.g. a Kit Kat and a fizzy drink for breakfast, nuggets for lunch and nuggets and chips for the evening meal. He showed an x-ray of an 8 year old with a totally impacted colon. He spoke of children who vomit faeces because they have blocked colons. It was great to hear of someone putting in enormous effort to try to bring about positive changes. I haven't heard what the final outcome was, but at this stage he faces lots of opposition from the children, but some parents were won over by the great changes in behaviour they noticed once their children's eating habits changed.
