Guest guest
If she was just starting out 1 1/2 grains is way tooooooo much! She should start with a 1/2 grain and go up in 1/2 grain increments. She just needs a lower starting dose in my non medical opinion! Guest guest
It is strange that she only started having palps after having been on it for four weeks. That sort of thing would usually show up when starting the med or when increasing the dose. The delayed reaction would suggest to me that there may be some other cause, like too much caffiene or other stimulant. Or she may have an undiagnosed underlying heart problem that has been exacerbated by the Armour. Those with heart problems can take Armour, but it has to be started very low and increased slowly, and usually taken in several tiny doses throughout the day. Hashi does come with its own rollercoaster. She may have an autonomous nodule that decided to kick in. These kinds of complications are the reason that I do not recommend self-medication. Palps can also be caused by undermedication. molly75056 wrote: Hello Everyone,Yesterday I was visiting my sister, we both were going to Dr L in Dallas, Tx. He put here on 1 1/2 grams of Armour. He told her that he wanted her to be off the Armour for 3 months and he would redo blood work and see were she was and then he would treat her.My first thought was Hashimoto desease or her adrenals.Has any one experienced this and what could be going on?Thank you for any help you can give me, I'm really worried about her. She feels really bad. And I feel bad for refering her to Dr L. She was frusterated with her treatment. Blab-away for as little as 1¢/min. Make PC-to-Phone Calls using Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
The prescribing info actually says to start with 30 mg and make 15 mg increases. 90 mg is actually a good initial target dose for most folks. It would have been better, however, if she had been given three 30 mg tablets and instructions for easing into the target dose. Guest guest
I agree, it just sounded like she was started directly on 1 1/2 grains. I still say 4 weeks is too quick to go from 0 to 90mg, in my non medical opinion. Six weeks or eight weeks sure. Low Ferritin is also another thing to check. It is often mistaken for a heart problem or being hyper. Guest guest
I actually went from 30 mg to 180 mg in four weeks. My tolerance is such that I probably could have gone much faster. But the doc who prescribed the Armour for me does not really like it, and if I had any problems, his solution would have been to put me back on straight $ynthroid. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kate Guynn wrote: I agree, it just sounded like she was started directly on 1 1/2 grains.
