Guest guest
Rebekah, >I agree that the Bible can be very graphic and socially disturbing at times. But again, it's a book of faith; not politics, art, history or science, though it may include those things. The Judeo-Christian view of God sees two sides to His character. It is a balance between love and justice. So, while He loves Ephraim, He cannot ignore their willful wickedness. To do so would be to change His innate character. > Thank you for the clarification. I appreciate that we can engage in a respectful discussion. What I find disturbing is the slaying of the children who could not have done any wickedness themselves. And the episode in question is not clear as to whether the children have been born yet. I have several Bible versions and the online Bible Gateway can be helpful, too, only not in this case. It just is disturbing socially, like you said. Deanna
