Guest guest
Saw my pain doc today. He gave me fioricet and a script for a tens machine. He also scheduled me for 3 epidurals in April. The si joints and a herniated disc. Thrilled about the tens machine but not too sure about the fioricet. Has a lot of acetaminophen in it. Also comes in an aspirin base [Fiorinal] and both are available in generic form. Carol
Guest guest
Carol I am more concerned about the affect on my liver. I have had alot of problems with elevated liver functions. Had to have a liver biopsy,Yech , take Urso to encourage my fatty liver to make morebile. So far the pain relief has been great. It does make me very hyper., though. The caffeine in it plus my one diet coke aday. My pain doc knows all of this. Sooo I will see how my liver does on it. My Rheumy checks my liver enzymes every month so we will see. I have enjoyed the added energy but I can only take them before 2 or I would have a problem sleeping. I took 2 hydrocodone every 6 hours before. My pain doc said that was alot but I functioned fine on them until I had an allergic reaction. He didn't prescribe them, my old Rheumy did. Aspirin based is out of the question I would puke all the time. Sorry for rambling. Joy

I was immediately taken off Lipitor and put on Questran. I asked my rheumy is I shouldn't switch from a " Tylenol " base to an aspirin base and he said no. Have been on " Tylenol " base meds for years because of a duodenal ulcer. Now, they know that's caused by h.pylori and not by stress, acid, etc., and responds to antibiotic treatment. I am on too much [at least to my thinking] " Tylenol " per day and it bothers me. Going to have long talk with GP on the 20th about a list of things. Keep us posted on how you are doing. And, if I have to have a liver biopsy, I'll contact you [don't tell me ahead of time, though]. Carol
