Guest guest
I spoke with a Nutritionist whom I have the highest respect for regarding Dr. Kittley and Celiac. She said she agreed with the doctor. That she does not do grains herself because they cause all kinds of digestive problems, not that she has an intolerance herself but she is aware of the problems that grains can cause for us because of processing. I have the greatest admiration for Myrna so I guess I will give it a try but it is not going to be easy to change from the foods I love. Although the doctor says I crave that you crave these foods because of the conditon. That it is not sugar we are craving when we crave sweets but the wheat in those products So what do you guys eat who are on this special diet. Any advice? Dr. Kittley said it is even in toothpaste and mouthwash..go figure. Pickle

Guest guest
I started out eating only vegs and protein (meat & eggs only) and nuts or nut butter, to rid my body of all yeast. Then added back apples, oranges, hard cheese. After 3 months, I added back all fruit, vegs, salad dressing (small quantity). So, basically I do not eat any white products or flour or sugar. It is very similar to a diabetic diet where you watch the glycemic index. I also cheat with a cookie now and then, but stay away from all breads. In fact, I don't even enjoy bread anymore. Don't know how much of it is mental, though. My case is extreme, but my nutritionist has me on a very balanced diet. She says I will add back in some grains, eventually. I also buy everything organic. There is not a Whole Foods close by, but Kroger and HEB have organic meat at the butcher and a good selection of organic fruits, vegs and dairy. I know this is off topic but I wanted to let you know how my diet is. Oh, and I have lost 35 lbs in 4 months (gained 50 due to hashi') with 15 more to go. YEAH!!! P.S. Second appt. with Gilbert Manso is next Monday. We will see how it goes. He is a little overbearing (kind of gung ho) but prescribes Armour, tested my adrenal hormones, requested the right blood work. Wish me luck. Guest guest
Google Children with Starving Brains and buy this book from Dr. McCandless'site for Defeat Autism Now protocol. Dr.McCandless (when she was seeing patients) wouldn't see patients who were not on a gluten and casein free diet. Her book is very comprehensive on how to treat autistic kids including testing and supplements. Go to www.holistichealth.com for Dr. Amy Yasko's biomed protocol. The Puzzle of Autism is a decent book but you must do genetic testing and learn a bit of biochemistry to implement this protocol. www.tacanow.com is a great website that someone else referenced too > > Has anyone had experience with Strickland, nutritionist at > www.asdpuzzle.com ?
