Guest guest
Hi, I borrowed a friend's smoker to try out. It's a Brinkman Gourmet charcoal smoker. It's pretty old and beat up and no instruction book. Here's what i did based on what he told me: Got 12 charcoal briquettes going. Put some green shavings from my apple tree over them. Put in the water basin, then put my turkey on the top rack. Perhaps it's broken, but the temp. guage (warm-ideal-hot) has yet to go out of warm. It hardly seems like there's any heat. Do i have to keep adding the wood shavings? The first batch turned black rather quickly. Also a lot of smoke seems to be pouring out of the various seams of the smoker. Do new ones do this? It's all so new to me i have no idea if it's going right. Thanks for any advice! Elaine
