Newman's Own organic salad mixes are now packaged in this PLA container

that has a plastic recycle #7 on it. It is just like plastic, but

apperently is made from lactic acid. Anyone have the lowdown on this?

Is it a good thing that's better than plastic, or is it some plastic

made from corn?
