Your doc has run the older thyroid panel. There is no T3 test here. The obsolete T3 Uptake measures thyroid binding proteins. It is used in a calculation together with the semi-useful Total T4 to yield the Free Thyroxine Index also called T7, another obsolete test which is an estimate of the amount of free T4 in your blood. There is no reason to run these obsolete indirect tests when you can have a Free T3 (direct) and a Free T4 (direct) which measure the actual amounts of available T3 and T4 in your blood. med. Your Total Cholesterol should be lower when your thyroid levels are optimized. Most endos do not Rx Armour. The few who do prescribe it keep most of their patients underdosed due to TSH worship.
