Yeah, this is something I've been wondering about for a long while.

But it has become more than sugar cravings. I talked about extreme

eating environment sensitivity and OCD. Any noise, especially

mechanical noise, no matter how small; any possibility of impending

responsibility that I might be in some way neglecting, or of having

caused someone some bad feeling or that someone might be angry with

me--in short, an extreme guilt sensitivity; any disturbance or

possibility of disturbance; not having way more than enough time to

eat; fear of germs, or forgetting something even slightly important,

or that I put something where someone else might think it shouldn't be

or might conceivably not be able to find it; fear of isolation...in

short, anything short of a womb-like atmosphere, and I get too anxious

to eat. Which has a lot to do with why the Warrior Diet worked so

well for me--one eats in the evening, when the day's activities are

done, there's no one coming over to do something around the house, and

so forth...This thing makes it so difficult or impossible for me to

eat normal food (non-cereal & sugar) 3x a day, beyond the digestive

difficulties and inability to eat much at one sitting. And that's

what is keeping this whole thing going, and what makes it so hard to

stop. Dietetically, I know what to do, but I'm not able to do it.

Bacteria and fungal overgrowth often do VERY weird things to your head. The

feelings of dread and panic you mention happen to be quite similar to those

I experienced. If I were you, I'd start this minute on the SCD diet

http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/ but I wouldn't eat any of the fruit

or honey that they say is okay. Wait at least a few weeks. And don't do any

of the anti-fungal supplements yet as they will be just too much of an

overload on your already taxed liver and make your withdrawal symptoms even

more unreal.

I guarantee that you'll feel a heck of a lot worse than you're feeling now

but it's the only way to get through it...

Personally, I'd save my money for a therapist until after I'd taken care of

this diet thing.

Rick,

Like others here, I don't think you are being willful or in any way acting

like a child. I think you are doing the best you can (seeking help here and

being completely honest in the process) when at the mercy of serious

compulsive/addictive disorder. Whatever caused the disorder, events or

psychology or simply bad food, the difficulty now is knowing how to break

the deadly cycle. I think it can be done starting with the food or starting

with some kind of therapy, but is probably best if you can manage to begin

both as soon as possible. The " enemy " is strong right now, and you need all

the help you can get. If money for therapy is a problem, you might want to

consider Overeaters Anonymous. I understand that you're not an overeater,

but some of the people in those groups are anorexic or have other kinds of

issues with food. If nothing else, being with people who understand what

you're going through will be a great help in your recovery. And your

recovery is what I very much hope you will soon have.

I agree with . Nicely said. Support, along with a sugar/starch free

diet, would be a definite plus if you can swing it. Good luck. I think I

know a little of what you're going through and I know it sounds corny but I

feel your pain! ~Robin
