Guest guest
I understand that B vitamins are helpful in preventing carpal tunnel. Got liver? ;-) If it were me, I would think about adjusting the kind and amount of fat I eat, the kind and amount of protein I eat, or deal with a possible imbalance in my gut flora. Some of the " good bugs " produce B vitamins for us. Antibiotics mess up our gut flora, big time. Also, birth control pills deplete our B vitamins. Or there might be some chemical exposure that needs attention. Neurotoxins like Aspertame (e.g., Nutrasweet) can mess up your nerves. If you're using it, you might stop for a month and see if it makes a difference. DH complained of tingling hands and feet when he was eating those Morningstar Farms Breakfast Patties all the time, a boxful at a time. I believe he made himself hypothyroid with them. Thanks to WAPF, he no longer eats them, and now he gets real eggs for breakfast every day. He no longer has those complaints. I believe the eggs are source of good fat and protein for him, as well as choline and B vitamins. Bertie Bertie, Sounds like carpal tunnel to me - especially with the beginning long-term pain, based on my experience with it. And you'd be surprised how many repetitive motions you really *do* go through every day, it's just you don't notice it until there's a problem. Me, I got carpal not from a dozen years of computer work, but from cooking - then it got worse when I started working at a garden center on top of my usual " farm " work. Based on my own experience, if you injured your wrists somehow six months ago, just chopping and slicing things for dinner every night without keeping your wrists aligned properly can really screw you up and make it worse - enough so that now you're noticing it. I fixed mine last year - but did something stupid a few weeks ago (injury) and now it's trying to come back. Good thing I love my chiro. And 's right, B vitamins help it - I was already doing a supplement that contained the full complement, but added one specifically for B6, and that helped me quite a bit. I'm wearing what I call a " stupid brace " again now, almost 24/7 - I DO have this annoying habit of twisting my wrists when I'm lifting things and trying to move quickly (i.e. several hundred flats of plants get delivered that day), so it's there to keep me from being stupid. That helps a lot too. MFJ Ideas are funny that way ... you go and let one loose, and suddenly it's crashing about the place, bashing up against other peoples' heads. Somebody oughtta control that. Pesky things, ideas.

What other foods are high in B vitamins besides liver? I hate to take supplements too, but when there's a specific issue involved I'd rather take them, then wean myself off them as the problem gets better. It's nice to be purist and try to get things through food, but I have no interest in eating 800 pounds or so of liver every day to help fix my carpal tunnel. I'd rather wear my brace and pop one extra pill a day for six months than deal with waking up every few hours at night because my hand has fallen asleep and it's gotten uncomfortable. Seriously, though ... you need to get whatever it is diagnosed properly, please don't wait until the summer. If it *is* carpal tunnel, it's easily fixable and doesn't cost much - I paid $120 out of pocket (no insurance) for the initial evaluation and brace. I waited before making the appointment, thinking it would get better, it was just a phase of something - partially because I didn't want to spend the money on the no-insurance doctor visit. I also practically lost my mind from waking up 473 times in the middle of every night screaming from the pain of not even being able to get the circulation to return. Is waiting worth that much to you? /end nonsensical but heart- and hand-felt rant MFJ Ideas are funny that way ... you go and let one loose, and suddenly it's crashing about the place, bashing up against other peoples' heads.
