Wow! I wish he was in Lufkin.

Dr. R is BETTER than I expected!!!

I just want to thank you all so MUCH for recommending Dr. R. I have been to dozens of doctors over the past 10yrs and he is the first one that has actually given me hope. I am literally crying at this moment out of relief and gratefulness. I have never had a doctor spend that much time talking to me, explaining to me, and get this - making sense! He really does "get it". He is a whole-person doctor. I almost didn't come and seriously thought about just cancelling my trip. It's not just him either. He has a wonderful caring staff. It will end up costing me at least $300 for the trip before I get home tomorrow even though Dr. R is on my insurance and only cost $20. But you know what?? It is SO worth it! Thank you so much for whoever started this group and thank you Jan for all the work you do for it and thank all of you other ladies for keeping the list going and helping people like me. I really appreciate all of you!! Take Care,Katy

must never go home :-)

A lot of us in this group see him, and I don't think any of us LIVE in

Lubbock. I travel from San , myself.

He's worth the trip.

You have not yet been through the mill with doctors. The first place to start is with your GP or internist. If you can persuade them to test and treat with Armour, you are ahead of the game. If not, then you keep looking. We do not know anything about the two docs listed for Lufkin, except that they do prescribe Armour. The lady who recommended them left the group, and I have heard nothing further. Maybe we will hear from in Lufkin. She is not on this site, and she is not too crazy about her doc (not on our list), but she may know something. One piece of advice. . . .avoid endos if at all possible. l & jpickle

Ask for the following tests: Free T3 (direct), Free T4 (direct), TSH, anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies, thyroglobulin antibodies, serum ferritin, am cortisol. You may also wish to have your sex hormones tested: estrone and estradiol or total estrogen, progesterone, DHEA-s, testosterone. If your doc does not blanch at this list, then you may have a chance of getting adequate treatment. Get a hard copy of your lab reports and post the results either on this board, About Thyroid or Thyroid Support Groups-USA. l & jpickle

I'll tell you, when my wonderful doc in Seattle retires, and if I'm not able to find anyone here to replace him, I will most likely travel to Lubbock to see Dr R. Yes, I'm serious. Everyone raves about him. I don't know where Lufkin is in relationship to Lubbock, but if you can't find someone locally, I'd vote for a road trip (or flight) to see him. I just hope that my doc (Dr Mozaffarian) doesn't retire for another 10 years or so -- he's 64 -- and that Dr R is still taking new patients... Dr. R is still taking new patients, and he has a plan in place to be able to continue to do so. His wife Sharon is going to school to become a Nurse Practitioner so that she can see the "sore throats and sore butts" while the doc continues to see the endocrine patients. I have a prediction about that. My crystal ball tells me that Sharon will have her own following of Hashi patients along with the "sore throats and sore butts." She is, after all, the "Hashimoto's Poster Child." There is one other doc you may want to consider: Sessions in Kirbyville. Not very many of our members see him because he is almost in Louisiana, but the more I hear about him, the better he sounds. Mapquest says Kirbyville is just under two hours from Lufkin.l & jpickle wrote: Man you would think there would be a good doctor in Houston Re: Dr. R is BETTER than I expected!!! Eldon s E. Steve family practice + 3801 21st Street Suite A Lubbock, TX 79410 1- Make sure you call his office to find out if he is on

your health plan. He is on some, but not all plans. The provider directories are padded with docs who have long since left the network. I show two names above, but it is one person. legally he is "Eldon", but he goes by "Steve." "goofy.2cats" wrote: > > Wow! Hi Karla,

Do you mind sharing who you see in Seattle? Oh I just read your

post again and it's Dr. Mozaffarian? I know this is the Texas

thyroid forum but I'm trying to help my Tacoma daughter who has

Hashi's, feeling terrible, and is p.g. She found a naturopath who

prescribes Armour but if you recommend your doctor, that might be

better (does he prescribe Armour, check cortisol, DHEA, etc.? She's

away from the house 12 hours a day and has a family, says she can't

find time to search the Washington Forum. Thank you!

He has no website, writes no books, does nothing to promote himself, deliberately keeps a low profile. His reputation is strictly word of mouth from one patient to another on the internet. And the people who see him keep coming back, even when they have moved to Wyoming. . . .l & jpickle wrote: WOW! This guy has made quite a name for himself. LP

I'm in the early stages of Dr. R's care...tonight on the phone my mom

interrupted me and said Dr. R is obviously worth the travel and the

cost (I live in San , he's not on my insurance plan, and my dad

has returned to work from retirement to help pay for my medical

expenses) because for the first time in over a year, she actually hears

a spark of life in my voice again. I'm nowhere close to feeling

normal, but I'm finally seeing improvement and making it through the

day without wishing I was dead!
