Guest guest
Dhani, I have never been on oxycontin, but I have had times when my implanted morphine pump was not working, or was leaking and I didn't know it; I was going off morphine. You described just about how I felt. The only symptom I would add is itching after about the 4th day. I also felt as if I had the flu. If you have been on any pain killer for any length of time, you need to ask a Dr. how to go about reducing/going off it. Might even consider doing in the hospital. It can be really dangerous. You could have convulsions, heart problems, and who knows what else. If you don't want to ask your own Dr., call a medical advice line, do some research on the web. You'll probably need to start reducing very, very slowly and see what happens. Since your whole body is physically used to the drug, it is just too risky to do it cold turkey. I was able to get off Klonopin after 4 years by doing it very slowly. I was on 1 mg four times a day. My Dr. began by prescribing .5 mg tablets, which I then cut in half. I reduced .25 mg per week. It took a long time but it was the only way not to go crazy. I tried reducing .5 mg per day the first time and the anxiety was awful; as you said, NO SLEEP. Even doing it as slowly as I did, I noticed a bit of anxiety right away and giving up the last .25 mg per day was not easy. It took about two weeks to give up the last little bit. It scared me just to read your message. You must have been so terribly sick and exhausted. I sure hope you don't push yourself that way again. May I ask the reasons you want to go off the medication? I wanted off Klonopin as I knew it was blurring my vision and making me terribly sleepy at work. My vision improved weekly as did my afternoon fatigue. I take other pain medications and they do not make me sleepy. Glad to be off the Klonopin but it also served its purpose for several years. kayfrank3@...
