Guest guest
Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) is a muscle relaxer and a pain reliever all rolled into one medication. It's two, two, two meds in one! Sorry. Couldn't resist that. I take Flexeril as part of my " pain medication cocktail " . It is very effective in helping with muscle spasms caused by pain. When it wears off I start twitching all over which causes more pain and discomfort. There is an adjustment period whenever you begin taking a new medication. I seem to have a high tolerance for most medications and don't get the relaxed, sleepy feeling from the Flexeril that others complain about. When I don't take it with the other medications I can tell that I should have. Ray Re: Wish Me Luck I do wish you luck! I wish you more than luck, I wish you find a doctor who will care enough about you to treat your pain effectively! That makes me so mad. If the dr. would take you off anything I would imagine the flexeril would go before the pain meds. All that did was make me sleep and feel like a pile of jello but did nothing for my pain. My pain wasn't a headache though- and why would flexeril help with a headache anyway, isn't it a muscle relaxant? That GP is not very informed. I really hope the pain clinic will help you. > I have had a headache, probably from my CDS, for > the last 5 days. Guest guest
Doncha just love twofers? My two Meniere's meds each do double duty, one for blood pressure & the other for URT allergies. My Drs & I always try for multiple benefit. Guest guest
I guess because all of us in here have pain but from different or similar but different conditions, with different tolerances etc. that what works for one will not for another. For years the doctors told me that I had muscle spasms causing my pain. I was game- they could say whatever they wanted if they could help me with it! So for years I took muscle relaxants. They did help to a point immediately after an accident when there definitely was muscle spasm. After that they did not at all and actually made my pain worse, because I was able to sleep in one position continually which made me wake up with pressed nerves. I didn't notice any pain relief from it, and some of the different ones like Methocarbomol actually made me violently ill, even though the pharmacist and the doctor told me that it should not. I thought perhaps I had just had the flu or something so I went and tried it again and I got very sick again.( I was so sick I sent some food to the health department to get tested, and it wasn't food poisoning). That will teach me to trust my own experience! Being doubted so long I guess I sometimes forget how to do this. I try to work on
