Guest guest
I agree! DO NOT play around with those numbers! They can give you a higher dose of steroids and a hour long breathing treatment! Guest guest
I'll agree that it's not easy. I quit 9 years ago cold turkey. I had a major asthma attack and couldn't take any more. I love being smoke free. God bless you! Guest guest
Thanks guys, it really is of some help, to me knowing i have your support also with my quest to reamin smoke free. I do now considder myself as a non smoker. Or is that a smoker that chooses not to anymore. Either way one week on and I feel so much better in myself. My chest is still rattling but thats due to the asthma and the chest infection i am currently getting over. I am on my 3rd week off from my work as a medical dispatcher in edinburgh uk... I am new to this asthma where i was only diagosed about 5 years ago. around the same time i moved to scotland where i seem to be surrounded by the yellow peril yes (rapeseed) we grow it here for this bio diesel. I hear this is banned from being grown in the states due to the chronic breathing difficulties this brings to many many sufferers of breathing problems. I am now currently on antibiotics... 40mg preds, 100microgramms x 4 daily of atravent plus ventolin on nebuliser as and when required along with my usual salbutamol and seratide inhalers... The nebulizer is being used alot less now... and I am not neeing my inhalers as much... I was also given anew pill to try called singulair to take at night... I have also some nasonex spary which i find absoloutely fanstatic.. I have always been a sinus suferer from a child and this just aloows be to breath so much better.. Once again thanks guys for your continued total support... its now midnight gone here and im into day 8 woooohoooo.. it feels fantastic. Guest guest
I don't know what to do. Down in southern Louisiana we have a ozone alert for today and tomorrow. me and my roommate have a lawn service should we go cutg grass tomorrow or not. The reason I am asking is that I have asthma and I don't want it to get bad for me. M G wrote: wait until six months down the road -- you should feel a major difference, but too bad for the asthma . Guest guest
Hi Anne ... thanks for your words of support it really is helping me quit this habit.. I am going to try taking my singulair during the day as my sleep pattern is all over the place. i don't know if its that or the preds im still on 40 mg a day... this has been ongoing now for 19 days.. The weather here is so stuffy and humid at the moment which isn't helping.. I have the purifier on in the house and a fan in my room at night. I am missing my work loads but I know just yet I am not fit enough to go back to 12 hour constant shifts on the phones. It's not so bad if its not busy but if we take a pasting it doesnt look good me sat there with calls stacked up and im unable to speak.. I am just so out of breath just now on exhertion. I am sure my fitness will return soon. I think the last thing i needed was a chest infection ontop of a bad bout of asthma. Oh well these thigs are sent to try us i guess. But I also have to say my smoking cravings have been less today and the ones I have had have been much mre manageable to. So I am pleased with my wee self. Well thats my bedtime now.... Not taking the singulair tonight Just the antibiotics and will see how I get on regarding my sleep. I will surely let you know. Kindest regards Jo ...... You should be proud of yourself b/c its not easy to quit from what I hear. I take Singulair and it does a decent job for me for the most part. The only thing I found, and my cousin's boy has the same trouble, is that I cant sleep if I take it at night. Anyway, I just take it in the morning now and I sleep decent at night. Good luck and I hope your asthma improves greatly! Btw...I was a volunteer firefighter for 20 yrs here in the states and dispatchers are often the unsung, unthanked heros of our world. Guest guest
Didn't you say you were in Edinburgh? I'm 120 miles further up the A90, and here it's not humid at all. Or warm - I've been wearing my winter coat again!! It changes so rapidly, though, here, and I guess that's what catches people out. Jenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me.
