Guest guest
What is GABA? I also take the Generic of Xanax, I try not to use it as it can become habit forming very fast. I keep it on hand, I had originally been prescribed it when I was going through intensive Therapy to deal with the sexual, physical and emotional abuse by my father between the age of 11-14, There's no way I could have dealt with any of that without it. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. ~Mother Teddy Bear's Early Learning ProgramEstablished August of 1992 From: asthma [mailto:asthma ] On Behalf Of Canary AliceSent: Sunday, May 18, 2008 3:24 PMTo: asthma Subject: good luck on your finals Jenn Good luck on your tests. I am the same with closed stuffy rooms. One EI on one of the lists has a handle of Fresh Air Seeker as she is so sensitive to "stuffy" rooms. Probably formaldehyde outgassing, paint, personal care products sealed into closed space. One of the lists I am on is devoted to this topic as Sick Building Syndrome but its mainly about molds. I cannot be in a closed building with no windows unless I carry my oxygen bottle with me. I have my own regulator which I got for Christmas one year (they are pricey) and my own special tubing from the EI clinic at Dallas plus a ceramic mask. There is no asthma med that doesn't make me shaky so I take GABA to counter act it. GABA is a calming neurotransmitter. I was on xanax for years but it poisoned my liver. The GABA doesn't injure me. I've noticed that being in a stuffy room sets me off, and I had been worried about this for my uni finals (which start tomorrow at 9am...), but luckily, I am in a separate room as I am using a computerbecause of a wrist injury, so there will only be me, an invigilator and maybe one or wo other students with special requirements who also will not be in tge main exam hall. From: Canary Alice <academymum>Subject: another theory on inhalersTo: asthma Date: Sunday, 18 May, 2008, 8:18 PM I used inhalers for 30 years at least but had to stop finally. I use albuteral pills. Somewhere I did read that your lungs are trying to protect themselves and when you use an inhaler before exercise outside you are just opening your lungs up more to get more pollen, etc inside. In the long run this is going to increase your allergy problems. (theory) If you use it before sex at least you are in your clean bedroom probably with a HEPA filter running so you won't be increasing your consumption of allergens. I always think about that young model in FL who died from her inhaler. I guess it was one of the old ones that I used ages ago (Medihaler). I think it almost killed me too by doing something to my heart. I have mitral valve prolapse. They say this is genetic but I don't believe that. I believe mine was caused by too much asthma meds. This is just my feeling and experience in my life. I had a doctor throw my inhaler in the trash can right in front of me and say never to use it again!!!! I was very alarmed as I much preferred my inhaler to a trip to the ER for an injection of epinehrine (msp). Inhalers can also run your blood pressure sky high. OK I guess when you are young. Just a few thoughts from a person who has lived a long time with asthma. Alice Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me.
