Guest guest
I follow a gluten free diet, as I have problems with yeast..IBS and leaky gut. I ate some bread last week and broke out with yeast around my lips and a vaginal infection and had a very unhappy stomach. I have never heard about grains causing thyroid disease. I don't see how it will affect your TSH but I don't know as much as some on this board. Good luck! Dr. Kittley Well I was Dr. Kittley today and did not get what I expected. My labs were as follows Free T4 1.08 TSH 1.2 Free T3 2.7 Thyroid Peroxidase AB <10 Thyroglobulin AB 26.1 There are others but I dont think they are thyroid related. She says that my thyroid is not functioning properly, was not at all concerned about my ultrasound and told me she wants me to go on a Gluten Free Diet for a month..that she believes a gluten intolerance is causing my problems including thyroid symptoms. She called it Celiac Syndrome When peoplw eiht Celiac Syndrome eat foods or use foods containing gluten their immune system responds by damanging the small intestine. Dr. Kittley stated that is now believed that one in 100 has this syndrome and have do not know it. Your body does not get the nutrition from the food you consume or supplements becuause of what is caused a leaky gut. She stated that she could put me on thyroid meds but would rather not due to the fact tha she thinks after the dietary changes I will feel much better. According the list she gave me nearly Everything I eat has gluten in it..it is not sugar we crave but wheat..we crave what our body is allergic to. this I already knew from working in the nutritional field for 6 years. This will demand a huge sacrifice on my part. I have to keep telln gmyself that it will make me feel better and I can do this for a month. What then? This pr oblem runs in families and you dont get sick if you stay away from gluten. She stated that many doctors know nothing about this disease. There is a very long list of symptoms Among those are low or higy thyroid function low or high parathyroid function You can read more about this on her website http://www.celiacsyndrome.com Pickle

Guest guest
I think she is right, when other things go whacky, it has a domino effect and affects other systems. And it seems that she will watch you. Did she do the blood test to show that you truly have celiac or did she just guess?? I have a friend whose mother has it and she says there is a definite test. Hang in there. If you can do it for a month, and it works, then the hardest work will already be done. And it sounds like she will do more blood work too. --- l & jpickle wrote: > Clear DayWell I was Dr. Kittley today and did not > get what I expected. > > My labs were as follows > Free T4 1.08 > TSH 1.2 > Free T3 2.7 > Thyroid Peroxidase AB <10 > Thyroglobulin AB 26.1 > > There are others but I dont think they are thyroid > related. > She says that my thyroid is not functioning > properly, was not at all concerned about my > ultrasound and told me > > she wants me to go on a Gluten Free Diet for a > month..that she believes a gluten intolerance is > causing my problems including thyroid symptoms. > She called it Celiac Syndrome > When peoplw eiht Celiac Syndrome eat foods or use > foods containing gluten their immune system responds > by damanging the small intestine. Guest guest
Hi all. About three years ago when I was at Canyon Ranch Health Spa & Resort in Tucson, Arizona, I was referred to York Laboratory in England (at yorktest.com) to get tested for food sensitivities. They send you the kit, you take it yourself, and then ship it back to them. I was wondering if I had Celiac Disease after reading about the symptoms of Celiac. It is apparently quite common in Europe, especially in Italy where they routinely test children. Doctors in the U.S. are not very familiar with Celiac. I went ahead and did the test. I found it very interesting. I did not have Celiac and I'm apparently not sensitive to gluten, but it did come up with some other foods I was sensitive to, such as egg whites instead of egg yolks. Kind of strange. A friend of mine began researching Celiac and gluten sensitivity when her young child exhibited symptoms of autism. She completely changed his diet, entirely eliminating gluten. This is not easy, especially for young children who eat at school and birthday parties, etc. Gluten is in just about everything! However, she is diligent about it, and she was pleasantly surprised. On the gluten free diet, her son became a different person, and the autism symptoms disappeared. Really amazing! I don't know what to make of all this, but I do find it quite interesting and thought I'd pass along this info. Good luck! Guest guest
You were positive for the thyroglobulin antibodies. So you have some kind of auto-immune thyroid disorder. I do not know much about celiac, except that it is fairly common among folks with Hashi. l & jpickle wrote: She did some antibody tests..then did not prove anything conclusive. Guest guest
Unfortunately, the test is not always accurate. It can give false negative and false positive results. The only way to really know is to try the diet. Re: Dr. Kittley I think she is right, when other things go whacky, ithas a domino effect and affects other systems.
