I wash my hands first. No bacteriaphobes around here, nosirree. Actually, now that I think of it, that jar in the fridge still has the grains in it. I suppose I should fish 'em out before they starve to death, poor guys. (seriously, though, in this case since the cream's so thick now, I'll *carefully* transfer it to another jar, rooting around with a spoon, mostly, till I find the grains. It also helps to know *exactly* how many grains you're looking for. In this instance, I know that pint jar contains two, count 'em two, hefty grains.
