Guest guest
I am just curious if anyone else that is Hypo has to suffer with the muscles in their lower back pulling to one side? Also my hands and wrist joints hurt. My feet and ankles are swollen most the time. Some days that I call "good days" I have no swelling at all and feel I can do my errands. Does anyone else suffer with these besides me? Also, I am taking 75mcg of Synthroid and 90 mgs Armour. I've only been taking the synthroid with the Armour for 2 wks and although i'm sleeping better .. my symptoms seem to be worsening. Of course the Synthroid didn't do any good for 10 yrs .. I just thought it was worth a shot. I talked to Dr. Horsley a few minutes ago and am going in to see her next week. She asked me to come out this evening but I just don't feel I can make that 40 min drive in all that horrible traffic right now. So next week hopefully will be better! Anyway, if anyone else is having the back muscle problems .. please let me know! Roxy Fort Worth I am Hypo taking Synthroid .88 and my lower back has been doing that the last couple of weeks..I thought I had over worked it and also in the last couple of weeks when I walk or exercise my hands swell..I am seeing a new Dr next week to talk about this
Guest guest
Deborah, what doctor do you go to? I really don't have any thigh pains unless my muscles spasm. Honestly, I am starting to feel that it's the Synthroid that is making me feel so horrible. I guess you can tell I have little faith in Synthroid for myself after getting no where with it for 10 yrs! When I finally find the right combination of meds that will relieve my pains. I will probably have to spend time with a chiropractor. Its sad that most of us have to do trial and error with different types of thyroid meds along with trial and error with our doctors. Its also why groups like this one are so important!! Roxy Fort Worth Roxie, I suffer from joint pain in my wrists and hip joints. I sometimes have pain in my outer thighs. The outer thigh pain is the strangest. It is painful to touch the my outer thighs. I have Hashi's and I am on 90mg Armour and DHEA. This disease is weird. BTW, I live in Fort Worth too. Guest guest
Outer thigh pain that runs down the length of your thigh is probably the sciatic (sp?) nerve. My outer thigh hurts when I press on it in the middle. Re: Back Pain Symptoms? Roxie, I suffer from joint pain in my wrists and hip joints. I sometimes have pain in my outer thighs. Guest guest
The thigh pain is on the sides of my thighs. They both hurt when it flares up. Very weird. They are painful to the touch. It's weird. I don't think it's sciatic in my case. Just weird. Deborah How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates. Guest guest
I had cramping in my calves when I walked a block briskly, and also in my thighs and other places at odd times. I also had gouty arthritis in my wrists, shoulder and toes. Nobody ever told me that these were all due to hypothyroidism and $ynthroid. Then I added some Armour to a reduced dose of $ynthroid, and they all went away in a very short time. I was just hoping for a little more energy. Little did I know how many of my problems were thyroid-related and not helped by straight T4. diamondzpsp@... wrote: Deborah, what doctor do you go to? Guest guest
I started having lower back pain radiating around the hip a couple weeks ago. Guest guest
I have swelling feet, ankles and calfs, but its due to too much potassium . I drink flavored water and it contains 3 potassiums. DR told me it was causing the swelling. so stopped that water and swelling went down for many days til I drank it again. I have to avoid potassium rich foods as well. or I have to 'leach' them before eating. my wrists hurt all the time , but its due to RSI. I take 90 mg armour amoung 10 other medications. I have a back injury from a car accident , so cant say anything about back muscles as mine hurt all the time. but your muscles and wrists pain might be from something else. RSI is repetative strain injury, and it doesnt go away, it is treatable tho. Lin Back Pain Symptoms? Guest guest
I have really just started my thyroid crusade (2 months). After 10 yrs of the fights with my doctors and then finally my Endo. I began to research the computer and message boards. My search led me to Dr. Horsley because I heard she was good. After going to her, I then heard from others that said she wasn't. lol All I know is she is listening and willing do any testing and try new things. So in the event that she doesn't work out for me .. I will keep Dr.Sullivan in mind for sure! Irving is no further to drive for me than Burleson! Thanks Deborah Dana, I didn't know you were in Ftw too. You must be one of those people that tolerates a lower thyroid level. Although so I have come to understand .. going by TSH readings alone is way outdated. You said you had pain radiate around your hip. For a while I had a heat radiation around my hip. It was as if someone were putting a heating pad on it and then taking it off. Is this what you are talking about radiating? The radiating heat stopped and left me with just the lower back pain really bad. Maybe that is a symptom of low thyroid and your increasing the cortisone just masks it?? My back hurts so bad .. maybe i'll talk to Horsley about putting me on cortisone. I'll take just about anything to mask this!! Roxy Fort Worth Roxy, I go to Sullivan, PA. He is in North Irving at Tiena Health. He also treats me for hormone related problems. He is great and well worth the drive. Deborah I started having lower back pain radiating around the hip a couple weeks ago. I'm now having serious doubts about Dr. Owens because she seems to be upset that my TSH is suppressed at <0.1 even though I'm feeling fine at that level. Does Sullivan care more about lab results or does he treat you mainly from your symptoms?Dana
Guest guest
Actually when I am working .. I work with massage therapists. Its always been very easy to trade services with massage therapists. Either they were too deep and bruised or they were just relaxing. Either way has accomplished nothing grand. I do however agree with you about all the chemicals I hear ppl putting in their bodies. I don't know about the rest of you but every doctor I go to seems to think im depressed? haha I am NOT depressed and I don't need Cymbalta, Welbutrin, Effexor or prozac lolz I just find it odd that these anti depressants seem to be a doctors beginning cure! Even doctor Horsley wanted to put me on Welbutrin and then Cymbalta. Both, I said NO to! I just don't need anti depressants YET! If I can't find my thyroid level and med to make me feel human again .. THEN I may need some hahaha! You could probably call me a pill phobic! I won't even take Tylenol or Advil because I am convinced they are bad for my liver. All I will take is Asprin which isn't so hot either but I personally feel is better. All I take is my thyroid meds and occasionally lasix for my swelling. However! With this back pain .. I really NEED something to mask it as I feel it is only a symptom! Its in my muscle, lower right side. As for a chiropractor .. that's definitely in my future!! 10 yrs ago when I had this same back pain .. I was adjusted several times. I was ok for one day and then lost the adjustment due to the muscle spasms. So adjustments won't do any good right now. I was just curious if anyone else has back pain symptoms with their thyroid imbalances. Roxy Fort Worth I have found that what works best for me is occationalvisits to a chiropractor or a massage therapist. Thisis the best thing to keep the body in alignment andmaybe to heal itself. If you have buldged disks, however, all the right levels of medication in theworld won't necessairly fix it, but the body workercan surely help reduce the pain.I have found that the more meds I take, the worse Ifeel. All of these chemicals just can't be good forus!! (I am not talking about replacement drugs... Guest guest
Something I learned because my grandson has damaged kidneys... tylenol is processed through the liver, and advil/ibuprophen is processed throught the kidneys. I think thyroid levels definitely has something to do with muscle pain, and joint pain. Everyone probably has a different weak point in their body, therefore, your back my hurt, but my feet may hurt all because of the thyroid levels not being optimum. --- diamondzpsp@... wrote: > > > Actually when I am working .. Guest guest
I see a neuromuscular therapist once a week. He works on the knots in my neck and all down my back (which I have many). The progress is slower just going once a week but I have noticed a difference in just 6 visits. I no longer wake up with terrible back and neck pain. I used to not tolerate even having my back touched, now it doesn't bother me. I recommend this for anyone with back or nerve pain.

Guest guest
Oh my Dana, would it EVER! I have felt in the past that it was a useless battle because of the "local" doctors that looked at me like I was some freak because I was "NORMAL" by their lab work! I can remember back long ago when I was told .. "ok your lab is normal now, here's your prescription and I'll see you in 6 months for more lab work .... have a good life!" WHAT? I feel like crap! Who's range's are we going by because they are NOT mine!! Then your doctor begins to look at you as if you are some trouble making patient and are ungrateful! YES! I wish I could just drive around the corner to see a doctor that knew how to treat me! Instead I drive 40 mins and longer in the south fwy traffic to wait sometimes a very long time to see the doctor. I have to make sure I have no other plans on that day! Its WORTH it however IF I can find some kind of "QUALITY LIFE" out of it! Its worth it for ALL OF US!! We all just need to keep SHARING, READING and EDUCATING ourselves so we know when we are NOT being treated well! I am sorry for us all yet I am very HAPPY because look where we are! WE have a clue even if those local doctors do not! Ok Ok .. i'll stop! lolz It must be that harmone shot I got last visit! Its beginning to wear off and now I think i'm a little harmonal! <smiles> GO FIGURE! HUGGGGZZZZZZZZ Roxy Fort Worth Roxy,I actually live in ville not Fort Worth. Guest guest
Roxy, I had unresolved, chronic, horrible pain in my neck and shoulders for many years. The worst two years of pain I had was after the doctors started me on synthroid! I don't know if it was the synthroid, the fact that I wasn't on an adequate amount, or what, but I can tell you that since I've been on 3 grains or Armour, I rarely experience that muscle/joint pain anymore! Good luck to you. I think you are a good candidate for added T3 or switch to Armour. > > > Deborah, what doctor do you go to? I really don't have any thigh pains > unless my muscles spasm. Honestly, I am starting to feel that it's the Synthroid > that is making me feel so horrible.
