Dear Joni,

i empathize with your need to have peace including

inner peace. here are my thoughts:

write the mayor of your city and inform him/her of the

lack of support by the police officers, the dates/time

of disturbance (this is especially important if your

neighbors are making it a habit to be noisy after

11pm) and how long it takes them to respond to your

need.

until a reply is returned:

get a portable walkman either radio, cd or tape with a

nice earphone. when you are just reading, crocheting,

etc. and that noise begins, reach for a media of

soothing music on a very low volume as not to distract

you so much and cause more problems with your ears.

get in your car (if your meds havent done the whammy

on focus) and drive by lovely sites such as homes you

admire. if you have problems with driving, find a

friend who will come by and take you for a ride or

come by and either chat, play cards, etc. the more

you get people in your life to be your friend and will

be happy to be with you, you will feel more enriched

and have a way to escape the four walls of

overwhelming emotions and pain.

make a bubble bath with lit candles and soft, soothing

music and enjoy yourself in this quietness.

I¹m just curious, and I don¹t mean to insult your intelligence or state the

obvious, but... Have you tried talking to these neighbors and explaining

your situation?

both my landlord and i have spoken with them. they have little

respect for my privacy or space. they're constantly walking through

my yard and they use my driveway instead of their own.

Moving might be the least stressful solution.

Thanks. I¹d definitely do what someone else already suggested, and make the

acquaintance of City Hall, and make some noise.

Good luck !

Time to dig out the tresspass statue and follow it to warn them. Have you

thought about filing a suit in small claims court? You could use the logic of

" loss of enjoyment of property. " Their noise is invading your privacy and

causing you to have a loss of enjoyment in life.

I'm not a lawyer but I've heard of people doing this to deal with noise

complaints.

Since you don't own the property wouldn't your landlord have to file a

complaint as far as trespassing goes? I understand your frustration we

own our home and are forever having to get after people who park in our

yard in front of the house the previous owners use to park there but it

is our yard and it is as if people have no respect anymore for others

property. Hope you can get the problem resolved mabe a no trespassing

sign will help then if they trespass you can call the law.

Hi Joni,

You didn't say in your post if your living in a house or apartment. If it's

a house situation and they rent the home you can file/call the owner or

rental company and talk to them. I had a similar situation and that's what I

had to do.

Where we live now we had some problems at first with neighbors on both sides

of us. One with barking dogs and one with a sound studio in the garage. I

went over to talk to both neighbors and explained the problem I was having

and that the music/dogs at times were unbearable when I was in a flare or

migraine. Happy to say we were able to reach an understanding and all of us

are very friendly today. I was lucky!

I hope your able to find some peace soon. I know teaching is very stressful

as I help teach in a special ed. for 4 & 5 year olds. Some days the noise

level is deafening!
