Dana,

Are you taking your meds the day of the labs? You have you answer on the

doctor the nurse told you the doctor prescribes based on labs. Find another

doctor and DO NOT take your meds within 12 hours of tests.

Kate,

Since I've been reading these posts, I learned not to take my

medication before getting labs but I'm not sure if it was 12 hours.

You're right about the doctor. I will probably look for someone

else because I feel that she is concerned with my lab numbers not

necessarily how I feel.

Jan,

I called my doctor's office yesterday morning and expressed my

concerns (through the nurse) about the large decrease in meds. The

answer I got is that it really wasn't a large drop because they are

figuring it on a weekly basis. In their opinion, my dose was

dropped by 120mg a week on the latest change. My only problem is

that this is my second change since seeing this new doc and using

the same type of calculations they used, I figure that my meds have

been dropped 600mg a week. That figures out to be 85.7mg per day

within a little over two months. I think its been too fast and I've

started feeling my old symptoms again.

I'll go see her one more time and ask her some very specific

questions. Maybe by that time, I'll be better prepared to ask the

right questions. Every time I read posts from this group, I learn

something new.

I'll try to negotiate for 6 months of prescriptions. So far, all

I've managed to get out of her is two months.

Your comment about the TSH being a pituitary hormone is news to me.

I have a vague understanding about all this stuff.

I have sent a copy of your post to two different local docs and asked if they could help you. When I get replies, I will email you privately.

I'm grateful for your help. I'm just wondering how you're able to

email these docs and get a response. I would like to be able to do

that myself to save me from going to them until they've messed me up

and starting all over with someone new. Can you tell me your

secret? Dana

Jan,

I spent quite a while yesterday reading anything I could find on

thyroid problems, etc. particularly anything that relates to my

situation. From what I read, it seems very clear to me that my

supprested TSH and high Free T3 levels point directly to a pituitary

problem just as you said. What I couldn't find is the treatment for

a pituitary problem. Also, should I try to get the diagnosis of a

pituitary problem so that my doctor will stop trying to bring my

labs into " normal " ranges? Or will my labs become normal when the

underlying pituitary problem is resolved? What do you think?

I didn't know the problems I could be causing these doctors. I

guess this helps to explains why Dr. Rose was being disciplined.

Dr. Rose did have me on suppliments, several in fact. I've always

taken everything together twice a day after eating. My memory isn't

good at all so for me to try to remember to take certain pills a

couple hours later would be far too much of a stretch for me.

Would this urine test help the doctor document my actual problem and

keep him out of trouble?

Thanks for your help,

I take all my suppliments with my Armour but I'm not taking calcium

or iron. Most of my suppliments are to support my adrenals and

thyroid. I take Vitamin C and a suppliment with gugulipids for my

cholesterol.

When I see a new doctor, I always bring copies of my past labs,

doctor's notes and a list of all meds and suppliments with dosages.

Sometimes it seems like I overwhelm them with it all especially when

I show up with a list of everything I want to talk about. I don't

mean to be pushy but I really can't remember things when I get there.
