I am taking armour (1/2 grain) I know it's a small amount, but Dr. R doesn't want to increase just yet, I am also taking Xanax for anxiety (which started when I started Armour, because the idiot that started me gave started me at 120 mg (2 grains) so I had really bad anxiety attacks, and last but not least, I am taking cortisol. My temperatures have raised a little bit and are at 98.1 or so. My symptoms, where do I begin... well aside from the anxiety I am still fatigued, brain fog sometimes, hair falls off like crazy, dry skin, etc. BUT I was worse so I can't complain too much. Dr. R said it's a slow process and I'm being patient, I just hate the fact that I can't lose weight.Kate Guynn wrote: Tells us you meds, symptoms and temps please.I personally

Ok, what are the plans to get off the Xanax? As you probably know that the

anxiety is the thyroid symptom. What is his reasoning on waiting on the

next raise? You are having so many thyroid symptoms. Sounds like you need

to be on one grain, half in am and half in afternoon. Have you talked to

him about that? Anxiety will go away with thyroid going up. I promise you

that, it did for me! Weight loss is a way away, you undermedicated. He is

right it will take time. It has taken me close to two years to get where I

need to be. I still need to get my ferritin up and my adrenals rested.

Dear Kate

I will get off Xanax, slowly, when I feel I'm ready to.

Yes, I know anxiety is a symptom of low thyroid, but I also had a

BAD reaction to a larger dose of Armour, THAT is why he wants to

wait a little while before we raise it again. Even at this small

amount my labs are better and I feel a little better. I'm also still

adjusting to the cortisol, which will help me tolerate the armour

better, but I don't want to increase and get the bad side-effects I

got the first time. I trust Dr. R's expertise and know he's doing

what's best for me :o)

Are you a patient of his?

I was on very small amount of steroid and gained 30 lbs. and terrible edema. I avoid it at all costs, in all forms. The dr. who finally figured out what was wrong with me said that I was highly sensitive to it (not necessarily allergic). The reaction I had took over a year to occur.

cortisol and weight gain

Just curious, I know LARGE amounts of steroids cause weight gain and stuff, but since I've been on cortisol I've gained about 7-10 lbs. and my face looks "rounder"

Has this been the case for anyone else? Could it just still be my thyroid not functioning properly?
