I know, I think that's why I'm super sensitive right now, plus Dr. R said that my adrenals got screwed up (he didn't say it like that, lol) because of the high dose of steroids as well.Kate Guynn wrote: He started you WAY to high on the Armour.KateAt 03:02 PM 3/27/2006, you wrote:>I used to see this doctor, and yes he is a good doctor BUT he is also the >doctor that started me on 120 mg. of Armour AND a medrol dose-pak >(steroids) when I was first diagnosed with Hashi's. I removed him from our list because he is now keeping many folks undermedicated, and because he is pushing chelation therapy at everyone. He used to be one of our better thyroid docs. andy_cruikshank wrote: Has anyone seen this Dr.? I don't think the steroids did it,. I think the high dosing of thyroid at

once did it. At medrol dose pack is a short term high dose steroid. You

aren't doing it long enough for you adrenals to shut down. The medrol with

a low dose of thyroid is what you needed.

He gives that dose of Armour to everyone. It is too large a starting dose for many folks. I used to just tell folks to get a pill splitter, quarter the pills and add just one quarter at a time. And yes, the Medrol Dosepak can screw you up good, not just because of the large dose, but also because that prednisone is not bio-equivalent and does not act on the receptors in the same way as natural cortisone. I suspect that any longlasting effects have to do with it gumming up the receptors, not with it shutting down the adrenals. Kate Guynn wrote: I don't think the steroids did it,.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll give Dr. Launius a try as Dr. Noble

is going to retire sometime this year.

You might want to check out Launius. He dosn't take insurance, but

his very affordable. I never spend more the $120.00 a visit and that

includes Office Visit and Blood tests.

Dr. Launius will not address adrenal issues. I don't know if he will test, but I know for sure he will not treat. I suggest that you join the caravan to Lubbock. What happened to your plans to move back to Seattle? andy_cruikshank wrote: Thanks everyone. I think I'll give Dr. Launius a try as Dr. Noble is going to retire sometime this year.

Another doc who may be worth looking at is V. Gonino in Rowlett. We do not know his position on adrenals, but he does prescribe Armour (if you ask for it) and bio-equivalent sex hormones. I will send him an email and see if I can get an answer out of him. Good alternative docs are loathe to reveal their protocols to someone they do not know.andy_cruikshank wrote: Thanks everyone. I'm still planning on moving sometime this year. It all depends on

finding a job.

Wow, thank you very much Jan! I've actually heard of him as well.

Where did you happen to hear of Gonino? If I had to see a doc in the DFW area, he would probably be the first one I would try. I will be interested to hear what he says about adrenals.andy_cruikshank wrote: Wow, thank you very much Jan! I've actually heard of him as well.>> Another doc who may be worth looking at is V.
