I have to start taking folic acid and b12 supplements. Are they supposed to be taken apart from Armour? I know Dr. R told me but I can't remember. I want to see if someone knows here before I call and bug them. thanks

I take those vitamins early in the morning, and take my first armour dose 4 hours later. But I don't know if they HAVE to be separated by 4 hours. That's just the way the timing works out.Didn't he give you a dosing checklist? He did that for me the first visit. Then again, I didn't get another when he added meds.

Those are fine together, I take Metanx too. Also if you take Armour

sublingual you don't have to worry so much about interaction with food,

Iron, Calcium or B/C pills.

Thanks, I'll do the same with mine then. I tried taking Metanx but I did NOT do well on it, so he's having me take a smaller dose of each folic acid and b12... Thanks Kate! Now for a really dumb question... how do you take meds sublingual? do you just put it under your tongue and let it melt without water? How long does it take to dissolve?Kate Guynn wrote: Those are fine together, I take Metanx too. You can take your meds sublingually if that is convenient for you, but very little of the thyroid hormone is absorbed through the tongue. Most of what you get is what trickles down your throat. Any improved absorption is most likely due to its being fully dissolved before swallowing.Imelda Macias wrote: Thanks Kate! I put mine under my tongue. Some do cheek and gum. Time is a matter of

how much salvia and the size of the pill. 15 minutes is about the time for me.

Imelda,

I have had trouble with the Metanx too and think it " might " be the

purple dye. I am really sensitive to most dyes. Did he prescribe

folic acid and b12 or did he recommend a certain brand?

Thanks.

He didn't give me a prescription he just wrote down doses and asked here for recommendations and Jan recommended Twin Labs b12 dots as well as folic acid... I just got the shipment form VitaminShoppe but haven't started taking them because I just increased my hc and since I'm so darn sensitive I want to wait a few days before I add the b12 and folic acid. Are you currently taking supplements for these two?rose_nancy8 wrote: Imelda,I have had trouble with the Metanx too and think it "might" be the purple dye. I am really sensitive to most dyes. I'm currently taking Sundown B-Complex Sublingual Liquid with B-2,

Niacin, B-6, B-12, and Pantothenic Acid. I guess it doesn't contain

folic acid unless one of those is folic acid. I do have it in my

multivitamin, but never remember to take it. What doses did he

recommend? Thanks.

for the b12 he recommended between 500-1000 mg/d and for folic acid he wrote down 0.5-1mg/d but when I called the VitaminShoppe they said that those were not doses for folic acid so they just sent me lowest dose to start off.rose_nancy8 wrote: I'm currently taking Sundown B-Complex Sublingual Liquid with B-2, Niacin, B-6, B-12, and Pantothenic Acid. Twinlabs makes a sublingual B12 dots in 800 mcg. That would be between 500 and 1000 mcg. There should be a 1000 mcg dose probably available by prescription. Drugstore.com shows a 1 mg (1000 mcg) dose on their site. OurHealthCoop makes one also, if you don't mind buying on-line. It has 1000 mcg of B12 as methylcobalamin, plus 400 mcg folic acid and 5 mg B6. I have bought from this site, and they're very good - and very reasonable.
