Guest guest
Hey , I am currently taking 88mcg of Levoxyl and I don't think it is enough. To answer your question, I am ALWAYS cold now. But that is one (of many) reasons I think I need more medication. I'm not an expert, but I think once your hormones gets leveled out, you should be more comfortable with your body temperature. By the way, do you like Armour better than Synthroid? What differences have you noticed? I am trying a new doc next week, and am considering asking for Armour. I don't know if my problems are because I don't take enough meds or if I'm taking the wrong meds. I'm on two grains of Armour, and do feel better, but my body temperature is eratic, averaging 97.7. My body temp has not been 98.6 since October 2005. I have to believe that if I get the proper amount of harmone and my body temperature stablizes that I will feel much better. I go back in 4 weeks for blood work. Anybody experienced this low body temperature. Thanks

Diane This is the constant delemma, when things get more detailed and complicated. That's why I no longer tell EVERYone that they should ONLY be on Armour Thyroid, though I believe that it is an amazing thyroid treatment for so many people who have very special problems. Most of us on these thyroid boards have problems, or we wouldn't be here. I believe that Armour fits into our bodies better, but if there is allergy or if that person can't tolerate higher amts of T3 directly, then there is a problem there with that. Everyone's body is very unique to their needs, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I just readjusted my combo of T4 and Armour, taking the T4 down some and sending the Armour up, but, in my case, I know that I can't tolerate what I consider to be very high ratios of T3 to T4. Yes, the T4 converts to T3 gradually, but I feel like some people can't tolerate very direct hits of HIGHER amts of the T3. Then again, some people it's just not enough, and they need enough to kill an elephant to feel any where near normal. It's a very individual thing, and I wish that it would all happen very fast for everyone, but for some us it seems to take forever. It has developed in me a sense of great waiting and patience and forethought, though I'm not afraid to take various steps. But with a lot of logic and temperance. I certainly don't want to die of taking my thyroid meds, just as I don't want to die from complications of hypo either. I'm not being negative, I'm trying to be positive about this. This is what it's all taught me.
Guest guest
I do not remember what your basal temps need to be, but the numbers are lower than 98.6. Your 97.7 does not really sound too bad. Hypothyroidism causes tissue damage, which takes time to heal. That can take months or even years even after you are on your optimal dose of thyroid meds.barngal1952 wrote: Hi, I was started on .025 synthroid in November 2005, but 3 weeks ago I switched Drs. and started Armour. Guest guest
Hi Diane, Yes I do like the Armour better. I saw no results with the Synthroid in 21/2 months and 2 weeks on Armour and my energy level was significantly improved. I have also noticed that my hair has more life and I have been sleeping great. Before I was up and down all night. I was told for 6 years that all my symptoms were from menopause. BULL CRAP! If another Dr. tells me that I am menopausal I'll scream. We women know our own bodies better than anyone else and I think that if you feel there is something wrong then there probably is. My TSH has fluctuated from 2.44 to 5.1 in the last 3 years, which I know doesn't seem high compared to some, but I have felt rotten for 6 years and the whole time I knew that something hormonal was going on so I bought the menopause crap until I found Armour. Even the dr. that started me on the Synthroid told me that it was probably just menopause and didn't schedule a follow up for 3 months, well I didn't wait that long before I found another Dr. I've only had one visit so I'll post more when I decide if I like her. I am looking forward to improving even more. I guess that it takes time for the armour to build up in the blood. I will be glad to see a normal body temperature again tho. good luck to you and hope you find what works for you.
Guest guest
Thanks Jan and Sara, I didn't realize that there would be damage to the gland itself, but sure makes sense. If this is the case my thyroid has probably been stressed for about 6 years so no overnight cure I guess--- Jen Texas_Thyroid_Groups , Jan wrote: > > Thank you Sara! > > The reason that I never paid much attention to BBTs is that I can take my temp, but it will never be a basal body temp, because the only thing that gets me awake in the morning is the need to make a visit with St. . . . .again. . . . > > > Sara wrote: > I've read 97.8 - 98.2 for BBT range target....sg > > > > > > > I do not remember what your basal temps need to be, but the numbers > are lower than 98.6. Guest guest
I am not talking about the damage to the thyroid gland itself. That also happens. I am talking about damage to all of your tissues: muscles, skin, hair, nerves, other glands, etc. There is no tissue in your body that does not need thyroid hormone. barngal1952 wrote: Thanks Jan and Sara, I didn't realize that there would be damage to the gland itself, but sure makes sense. Guest guest
I understand about that! I've had to practice some major meditative concentration on many mornings to get the temp reading and then break some sort of sprint record to the bathroom. Not fun. I was at 96.2 avg in 1/05, and 96.75 avg. in 7/05. From what I'm seeing after a week of readings, I'm into the low 97's now, which is good feedback. I've also noticed that I can really whack that thermometer back down in 2 or 3 sharp snaps, and I don't even feel it. Used to hurt like the dickens to try to do it, and now it's effortless. Love my Armour.... oink!....sg > > > > I do not remember what your basal temps need to be, but the numbers > are lower than 98.6.
