That's good news!

At least she admitted to having a hard time trying to regulate

you on Armour.

Did you ask her to run the anti-bodies tests, or have you had

that done already?

Did you have the Free T4/Free T3 test run?

5 mcg is a good starting point, (I am at 18.75 mcg.)

Good luck, I hope she remains understanding.

Hi ,

I am almost in the same boat as you and starting the journey at the same time.

I have been on Levoxyl 100 mcg for two years with “normal” labs and just started on Cytomel 5 mcg twice daily as of this weekend.

I am hoping it will kick in my metabolism which will give an overall boost to my immune system, liver function for cholesterol and more.

I will keep you posted and hope you will do the same with your progress.

Sue

Well I did it! I printed out checklist of hypothyroid symptoms

and checked off the symptoms I am currently having and took it to my

doc so she could see in black and white what was/wasn't going on with

me. She stated again that my TSH was normal (2.2) and I pointed to my

list again and said that I was still having symptoms.

She talked about increasing my synthroid, but instead I asked her

about Armour and she didn't go for that (too hard to regulate).

Anyway the good news is that She is trying me with 5 mcg of Cytomel

along with the 125 mcg of Synthroid I am already taking.

So all in all it was a good visit. This is my first time taking

anything from just synthroid, so we will see how it goes.

I asked her about Free T4/Free T3 test and she is a slave to the

TSH!!!. Or maybe to the insurance because somewhere in our

conversation she said that she would run them if I wanted her to. I

am supposed to go back in a month and I figured I would hit her up

about getting theother tests at time.

How is the addition of T3 potentially going to affect me? She said

that maybe I could get some of my energy back.

Oh, and the only test I have had is TSH, but I will keep working

on her!

I don't know if she is worth working on. Why is Armour hard to

regulate? That's is a load of poop! She won't run Free's. Have you asked

your insurance about lab tests?

I will give her this at least she gave you T3.

It seems weird that she would give you T3 without running

any tests except the TSH. (Maybe I just don't know what I'm

talking about?)

Personally, I'd like to have the Free T3 and Free T4 ran before I

started taking the Cytomel, so that I would have a base line.

When was the last time you had your TSH ran?

I'd also want to know why my thyroid isn't working right? Hashimoto's?

Just pooped out? Anyway around, I think you have the right to

have those tests ran. If she is willing to prescribe Cytomel, certainly

she's willing to have those tests ran.

That's just my personal opinion, or course!

Adjusting your thyroid meds by TSH alone is like trying to drive blindfolded. wrote: Well I did it! Hi Sue,

I will keep you posted. My cholesterol is " okay " at 188 and I think

my immune system is " okay " I don't get sick too much. I just battle

the exhaustion and depression/anxiety and a few other things.

I find it interesting that different people have different things

that are out of whack for them. Such as, since being medicated, I

don't have cold hands and feet anymore, but I still have these other

symptoms.

And to answer the others in the group, I guess I got excited that my

doc was actually considering different treatment that I forgot to hold

her to ordering the lab tests for me. Definately calling them

tomorrow and getting those set up before I start the Cytomel.

Thanks for all of the advise!
