I don’t need any more problems or new ones. Why poke the bear? If the inhalers are working, my asthma is under control, as far as I know, I have no idea why they would mess around with the pills. I use my inhaler 2 -3 days a wk, sometimes more and maybe 1-3 times wake up at night needed it. My pulmanary dr said this means my asthma is not under control. I am on albuterol, advair(either 250/50 0r 500/50 depending on severity of asthma) and also on singulair. Today I started zolair shots because the meds I am on don't bring my asthma under control and also because my allergies are off the chart I am diag. with allergic asthma. Even with starting xolair my dr. still is keeping me on the other meds. I'm not sure why yours is taking you off for pills. The singulair is more a preventive and works on leukotriene. The advair is a maintenance drug. Albuterol is the fast acting inhaler that you need for an attack. Let me know if and why your dr. wants you off the inhalers and just on the pills? I’m relieved. I’m on Advair 100/50 2x/day and Ventolin as needed. I usually don’t need Ventolin unless I exercise. I take dance classes at night – about 2-3x/week – so I’ll use it then. I also volunteer at a local animal shelter in the grooming department which requires a lot of physical work. You wouldn’t think so, but they rescue dogs from all over and grooming gets them first so we have to bathe, clip nails, etc before they go to be adopted. Depending on the “puppy-load” I sometimes use my inhaler there. I don’t need it at night or just walking around or doing “normal’ activity. It’s only doing strenuous activity that seems to set it off. He just said he wanted to try to see if the pills would work better than the inhalers. All I know is that I had such an adverse reaction to both sets of pills that I was given. Thanks for you concern, though. I appreciate it. susanstein@... Sometimes I think the drs. like things perfect and that just doesn't happen. I'm glad he is going along with your plan not to use the pills, why change things if they're working.
