Guest guest
After giving the matter much thought, I've decided to slightly expand on the number of mandatory tags on this list. The POLITICS tag remains. However, I'm adding two new tags, RELIGION and OT. RELIGION, obviously, is to be used for any discussion of religious matters. OT is only to be used for completely off-topic subjects. Gene and Deanna's discussion about synthesizers is a perfect example. Though OT conversation isn't encouraged, I also don't want to squelch the community, so as long as it doesn't get ridiculous, go for it -- provided you tag it. Of course there will still be some difficult judgement calls. As an example, I'd consider the discussion about the distribution of eating preferences across the political spectrum and the difficulty of convincing the disinclined to eat WAPF-style to be extremely on-topic, but perhaps it deserves the POLITICS tag even though it's not by itself overtly political. There are plenty of people who are only interested in the subjects of nutrition and health. There are, I'm coming to realize, some people who are also interested in political but not religious discussions, and vice versa. And some people don't want to be bothered by purely OT posts. So please abide by these new tagging rules. Anyone who doesn't know how to filter tagged messages into the trash but would like to should contact me or some other knowledgeable person off-list. -
