Low Ferritin can cause palps. Guest guest Posted February 22, 2006 Report Share Posted February 22, 2006 I had to switch from Armour to Unithroid/Cytomel mix. I think if my Dr was patient enough, I could have tweaked my meds. But I am doing just fine with my current medication. I see Dr. AnnMarie Herpin. She in on Hwy 6 and ? Is on Hwy 6 between Hwy 59, and Hwy 90. I am not sure if she is taking new patients. She does order the T3 and T4 Free's, and takes a lot of time trying to help. I am teaching her to not concentrate on the TSH as much! ha ha But she is a great Dr! I will most likely be on those same two meds as of march 3 when I see my endo about my latest blood work — she wants to change/add meds from my current .100 levoxyl. However, she keeps trying to take me off of armour and put me on a synthetic combo because it would be easier for her to regulate. I refuse every time and I feel that she is getting frustrated. I have gone the synthetic route before and felt horrible. She'll put you on armour if you ask, but at the first sign of trouble, she wants to take it away. That really bothers me. I get symptoms like swollen lymph nodes, to just feeling drained. I would strongly suggest slowly increasing the Cytomel. I was on Armour, so was used to the T3 spike. My heart raced a little, but I quickly got used to it. I'm on the 25mcg and split in half and only end up taking 3/4 of the tablet a day. Like the TSH being suppressed. I did tell her that my Endo had read several reports disputing the fact that a suppressed TSH leads to bone loss. I also pointed out that my nodule has gone away with the suppression. She agreed with that. She never got on me about using Armour. But I understand that it is hard to adjust when using Armour. It was for me. But if you are persistent, she will listen. I am so looking forward to getting more aggressive with my treatment but am also very cautious so yes, we are going to go very slowly on the T3 cytomel addition – the more I read about it and it’s anti-depressant, and metabolism boosting properties, the more I can greet it with open arms since I am somewhat “med-phobic”~! I was thinking of starting with 5 mcg and increase until feels like too much. Do you feel affects within days of starting the T3? I am thinking yes??? I am going for the levoxyl and t3 since they are synthetic and that is so ironic for me cuz I am miss “au natural” in that I don’t like anything “fake” but have heard it’s so hard to control the baseline with the armour so I will try this first and if no luck, try the armour. You know, like feeling awake, and ready to go and go and go! ha ha I tried to increase mine too quickly. I started to have pains in my muscles. My eyes would twitch. My thumb twitched also. Just over all feeling of sick, and tired. Almost like being hypo. Start very slowly. I can't remember how I found the dose that fits me, but it took months. Almost a year! I am not sure what the equation is, but T3 is something taking three times as much T4? I know that Jan can tell you. Do you have a problem with conversion from T4 to T3? I really do plan to start with 5 mcg even if she suggests more — I will just cut it back. I don’t have my labs but will get the numbers March 3, I missed my last appt — and my endo did say my T3 was in range but on the low end and could stand to use a boost via the T3.
