Guest guest
CairnMom@... Subject: Re: Neurontin I read this post and it rang a bell for me. Please let me know when you find out what may be causing this leg pain at night. I have similar pain and do not know what may be causing it. I have FMS/CFS and possibly Osteoarthritis (just had X rays because I do have so much pain, the doctor's are trying to figure out other possibilities to cause it). During the day and night I am aways in pain, even with the strong pain meds, but I am experiencing a new additional pain, but only at night. It feels like a twisting nerve pain of some kind. This night pain is like a severe long lasting shooting pain from my lower back down the back of my leg to my knee (on the right side only) I feel like it actually ends in my knee cap, and I have touched my knee cap during the pain and it even hurts to touch. It is so strange. Also, pain like nails are being pounded into the sides of my hips. The pain takes your breath away, it is awful. Does anyone else have pains like these at night only? I can not figure out why it only occurs at night. If anyone else experiences pain like this, please let me know what you think it may be caused from. Also, I have severe jerking when I rest. It is like my whole body jerks off and on... my legs, an arm...the jerking is so strong it will move my body. I was wondering if medication could cause this...but then why would it only happen when I am at rest or my eyes or closed? Gees, I need help! Guest guest
Hi All, I have restless leg syndrome. It seems to me (IMO) that the symptoms you are describing are the same. Most people don't realize that RLS can be painful also. If you want to find out more go to, www.rls.org . They have the info on symptoms and ways to alleviate them. Hope this helps someone. Take care, in Mass.
Guest guest
I have had these exact same pains before being diagnosed with fibro/myofacial pain; I still have all of them from time to time; one thing I have learned; never let a muscle get COLD. I use moist heat with a thermaphore heating pad, but am also on Oxycontin and Soma now. The hip pain is a burning sensation with me, and the pain down the leg to the kneecap is exactly what I had, diagnosed as sciatica; it was treated with a trigger point injection just below the buttock; hurt like hell, but the injection was three yrs. ago, and I seldom have that leg pain now... just a thought......... I suspect the hip ache could be myofascial or fibro; my doc said both, but after more trigger point injections in lower back area, I seldom have this anymore. Do, be sure this is not an arthritis, though... if a moist heat pad keeping the area warm helps, it may be what I have... It was almost always worse at nite while trying to rest; my theory is because I was guarding the area all day, it spasmed at nite; doc agreed; all 10 of them! Fibro and mps can cause some nasty spasms in places you never knew you had... moist heat has been a saviour; I even take heating pad to office visits on bad days...... Water exercise in water more than 86 degrees may help to smooth out the spasms; it did for me. Even the bathtub was a help, but be sure someone is there to help you; a spasm getting in or out can cause a nasty fall.... AS FOR THE JERKING at nite, this seems typical for many with restless leg syndrome; a part of fibro, as far as I am concerned. Muscle relaxers like Flexeril, soma, and others may help...KAT
