Guest guest
Y'all in the northern US and Canada, do report back when they land. Spring is coming to you and has already come here. Deanna ***************************************** I'm keeping my eyes open for any signs of spring - will certainly report if/when I see the large flocks of geese migrating again. I read an article in the paper a few weeks ago written by the owner of a local bird shop that people had been calling him throughout the winter with sightings of robins. Seems as though some are staying in the area year round now. I can't remember exactly what the thoughts were on why. Also, some Canadian geese are hanging around for the winter, too. I have heard some talk about people feeding them and distrupting their migaration, but also, they do mate for life and if their mate is too injured to make the migration, often the other part of the pair will hang back, too. Now isn't that nice? That said, I do still see large, noisy flocks in flying formation in the spring and fall. Right now, we are still getting snow storms. The last one was wet, slushy snow, though, more like springtime snow ) Mud season will be here soon! Vivian
Guest guest
I saw a flock flying north this morning. We are in north central Oklahoma. > Thousands and thousands of them in the last hour have been seen and > heard far over head in North Texas. Wow! It's a beautiful day, and are > fortunate to be out gardening and building a chicken house, else we > would have missed it. What a great experience. We'd get 10 or more kids playing on what was supposed to be a lawn and they'd just rip it up and get all muddy. What a mess. Things sure grow faster though with the shorter summers. Snow here less slushy than in valley. Have had one small mud season. With another foot of snow since. It'll be walking the driveway in for at least a few weeks soon.
