Guest guest
> And keep in mind that until, oh, 50-100 years ago, petrol wasn't used to grow food at all. I can do a decent job growing a LOT of food with my own two hands (tho a tractor sure is nice to CLEAR the land in the first place). It's amazing how much food one person can grow. There was one guy who wrote a book ... he only has one acre, but he grows $30,000 worth of produce on it, selling to specialty markets. The average city lot can grow enough cabbage, collards, fruit, etc. for one family. > > > Heidi Jean Heidi, We do use a powered tiller, but let's face it, a plough/mule combo works fine too ... and keeps the body in shape. Praps after you develop Glutenator Brand Beer you'll come up with the Plough Princess Workout (accesories not included), lol. Yeah, a whole lot of foods can be grown in small spaces. I think has some good tips on that. City chickens are the hot ticket presently in the media, too. Give me eggs and fermented vegetables, and I am good to go. I just read today that food prices are increasing because of fuel costs. Buying & growing locally is just better any way you look at it (unless you live in an unsustainable area).
