The votes are in! Farm Education Center has been recognized as one

of the top ten local favorites for Maine in Travelocity's 2005 " Local Secrets,

Big Finds " poll. More than 30,000 nominations poured in from Travelocity members

around North America, challenging Travelocity's editorial team to search for the

best of the best local finds in each state.

A comprehensive list of unique places worth seeking out, Local Secrets,

Big Finds is packed with treasures that no other guidebook boasts. This online

collection will send you straight to the heart of your destination, revealing

those hidden gems across the country that are often overlooked by tourists but

are the very places where the locals often go.

Ranging from ostrich racing to alligator eating, a raptor rehab to a

disappearing lake, these places celebrate North America in its rugged beauty and

its quiet sunsets, in fabulous food and fun festivals. Some can be found in your

very own backyard.

millions of Travelocity members to find out about the favorite quintessential

finds in their area, Travelocity's editorial team culled down more than 30,000

customer responses to unearth the best local spots in each state and is now

sharing the list of Local Secrets, Big Finds with vacationers across the

country. A total of 510 spots, that is 10 picks for every state, plus

Come join us in 2005 as The Farm Trust celebrates its Tenth

Anniversary! We are a small-scale, diversified working farm and education

center, located on Hwy. 27 in Wiscasset, Maine, right next door to the Wiscasset

Primary School. Our not-for-profit organization works to promote the values of

sustainable agriculture and stewardship of the earth through education,

demonstration and community involvement. Our certified organic 50 acres support

a small dairy, apple orchard, a half-acre of pick-your-own raspberries, a

demonstration garden, a small pastured poultry operation, and three dozen laying

hens. The remaining 10 acres of our land are wooded and feature a yurt,

available for camping, a pond, waterfall and an interpretive trail that connects

to paths that wind through an adjacent forest. The farm hosts a variety of

educational programs and events for both children and adults, school field

trips, vacation camps for 6 -11 year olds and is open to the public dawn to dusk

daily. Come by and take a walk through our forest, visit the animals, take

advantage of our self-guided tour and stop at our self-serve farm store to try

our organic raw milk, eggs, meat and produce. We also have open milking
