Guest guest
I am due for some. Last time my t4 was low and he wanted me to take t4; I tried it and felt worse, so I upped the armour to 2 gr. But I am due to have blood drawn soon Steph
Guest guest
Yes. You could be undermedicated. Do you have any recent lab results you can post?sle816@... wrote: My point is that last year, my allergies were better - before I was on thyroid meds. could this mean I am still undermedicated - thyroidwise? Guest guest
Steph, I've been having lots of allergy problems this year, too (it seems like everyone is!). I personally think it's because this winter has been so warm and dry and windy (at least out here in west TX)and the spring/summer was wetter than normal. We've also been getting lots of wind from Mexico and that always makes for lots of respiratory problems out here. (Lots of pollution and cedar from Mexico.) PLUS--cotton! I can't get away from it! They've finally gotten most of it harvested (after spraying defoliate [sorta like agent orange] on it) and now the gins are going full blast. You can see the " dust " around the gins (really nasty, think of Pigpen from Snoopy cartoons) and then the " snow " from the cotton fibers everywhere. I don't know all the chemicals they treat cotton with, but they are really terrible. (Makes me appreciate organic farmers even more.) Any way, I hope that you get to feeling better! in Midland > > My point is that last year, my allergies were better - before I was on > thyroid meds. could this mean I am still undermedicated - thyroidwise? > Steph
Guest guest
My grandmother owned a cotton gin in Central Texas and it was right behind the house. She didn't have AC. I hated going there in the late summer because it ran full blast 24 hours a day and I couldn't breathe. > > > > Steph, I've been having lots of allergy problems this year, too > (it > > seems like everyone is!). Guest guest
Yuck! It's bad enough living within 10 miles of one--I can't imagine having one in my backyard. Was your grandmother able to breathe OK? > > My grandmother owned a cotton gin in Central Texas and it was right > behind the house. She didn't have AC. Guest guest
, I'm sorry! Thankfully you're far away from most of these irritants now. I keep hoping that we'll get some freezing weather to stop some of the things out here--but it's suppposed to be in the 80's again. And we haven't had any rain now in a long, long time.... Oh, well, life goes on. What's really sad is that on New Year's Day I had to turn on the air conditioner! It was very windy and dusty and at least 85*. Anyway, I wish I could pass you a tissue for your sneeze! > > Cat, > > Your e-mail just made me sneeze! Guest guest
As long as that thing was running at full capacity she was thrilled. I don't recall her ever having any respiratory problems but she was hard headed enough to will them away. > > > > My grandmother owned a cotton gin in Central Texas and it was right > > behind the house. Guest guest
That's okay, ! Oh, the heat down there, gosh! I remember more than one Thanksgiving with the air conditioner cranking our air, but I don't think I remember that in January! It's even been very warm up here. Mostly in the 40's and windy here too. Hope you didn't suffer from the fires. Was there a lot of smoky air around? I do seem to be breathing better up here, thanks. But you might have to hand me a tissue anyway. Sometimes I really miss you Texas gals and guys., > > > > Cat, > > > > Your e-mail just made me sneeze! Guest guest
, actually, we're far enough away from the fires that I never saw any smoke at all. I'm guessing we were at least 100 miles from any of the fires. But, it's really dry and very windy around here, so I wouldn't be surprised if some happen closer. When are you in Lubbock next? I had my appointment with Dr R a couple of weeks ago and took my younger daughter in. Her follow up appointment is Thursday afternoon. She'll be 14 next week, but has been showing symptoms for the past couple of years and they're just getting worse. Her temps are usually in the 96's, but we'll let him decide for sure. Anyway, I would love to meet anyone who comes to Lubbock. I'm up there a lot since I have 3 kids in college there. >Hope you didn't suffer from the fires. Guest guest
Awesome, Matt! Our appointment is at 1:00, when is yours? Maybe we'll see you there! Dr. R is so nice and he has a nice sense of humor too! Be sure and bring a notebook or something to make notes in, because you will get so much info it's hard to remember it all. > > Hi Kathy, I'm seeing Dr. R Thursday afternoon too First visit and I'm very excited. >
Guest guest
, 2:30. Does he encourage people to bring a note book? I was thinking about a voice recorder, but that might weird him out. I could certainly get everything though. I'm driving in Thursday afternoon, and then staying the night at the Lubbock Inn so I can do the blood tests the next morning. Where are you coming from (you talked about the fires)? My parents live in Denison and have been talking about the fires. I live and and am coming from Albuquerque, NM. Guest guest
The notebook is fine. I don't think he would like the tape recorder. Do bring a brief medical history and a list of current medications and doses. Matt wrote: , 2:30. Does he encourage people to bring a note book? Guest guest
I actually typed up some notes and already faxed them over. I'm a nerd I know, but I have so many things on my mind that I KNOW I'll get there and forget half of it. Re: sinus infectionAwesome, Matt! Our appointment is at 1:00, when is yours? Guest guest
Hi , We (dh and I) were supposed to schedule our next appointments for April. I've called about increasing my dose so if that happens, it might be May. Are any of your kids graduating in May? I've got one graduating from UTSA San next December. I'll post when I find out when our appointments are. I'd love to meet you too, or anybody else on the forum. Good luck with your younger daughter's follow-up appointment! > > > When are you in Lubbock next? I had my appointment with Dr R a > couple of weeks ago and took my younger daughter in. Guest guest
Matt, it is usually a very nice drive, but I must admit that yesterday when the wind was blowing close to 50 mph and the dust was mixed in it, I wasn't too sure about it! Sorry I missed getting to meet you, but we were done and out of there by 1:45!!! For those of you interested, my young DD's numbers were good, but with her very low temps and fatigue, Dr R did prescribe Armour for her. Her ferritin was low, along with B12 and folic acid. So, today we will be hitting the health food store to stock up on those things. I'm sure hoping this will help (as is she), because no young person should feel like this. Dr R told her that she can reach 5'8 " and I think she was a bit disappointed--she wants to be as tall as one of her brothers, who is about 6'2 " ! Sometimes I just have to laugh at her whims. Anyway, borrowed some Armour from her older sister so we could have some before getting her prescription filled. She is taking 1/4 grain, 2x daily. Not very much I know, but she needs to start small. Anyway, she is willing to try everything as she wants to feel better. I was glad that was back in the office--he was on vacation when we went in 2 weeks ago. I had been telling DD that wouldn't hurt her when he drew blood--and then he was gone! Crisis in the making!!! His replacement did OK, but did hurt DD--who almost passed out. (VERY afraid of needles & pain.) The office jumped into high gear and took great care of her. We had thought of staying in Lubbock last night, but we both wanted to get home to our own beds. I must admit I slept very soundly after a long day of travel. Hope all have a great day today! > > > > , > > > > 2:30. Does he encourage people to bring a note book? Guest guest
Thanks, ! No, no children graduating yet, but perhaps in December, then it will be another 1 to 1-1/2 years before the next one. DD is trying to get it done early, so maybe 3 years for her, since she just started last semester. Right now she's got 29 hours and will have 46 at the end of this semester. (Took concurrent classes in HS.) We keep telling the kids that SOMEONE has to graduate soon. They just keep laughing at us--but, that gives us plenty of ammunition to use later when we're old and need someone to take care of us! And, please do let me know about your next appointments. I will try to be there! But as evidenced with Matt yesterday, sometimes the times just don't work out if appointments are on the same day--even as close as ours were. > > Hi , > > We (dh and I) were supposed to schedule our next appointments for > April.
