why I left my endo

I think my endo was a good doctor. He was smart enough to change my

thyroid meds when I needed it. He was willing to increase my dosages

when it seemed appropriate. I liked him. However, his staff messed up a

prescription order which would have left me without medication if I had

not followed up on it. They never admitted the mistake which made me

worry it would happen again. They double booked which meant that I would

have to wait up to 2 hours to see the doctor. I rarely had more than 5

minutes with the doctor which made me very nervous and apprehensive. I

always felt as if he was really to busy to bother with me. The last time

I saw him, he was having a bad day. When I complained that I didn't feel

well, he told me that my numbers looked good and he asked me what I

expected him to do. I didn't know. I just knew I felt poorly. He didn't

consider that it might be adrenal even though I had had adrenal

problems. He didn't consider anything else or ask for details. I left

the office with a slightly increased thyroid medicine dosage

prescription, but with a feeling that this prescription was just the

easy solution. This was the doctor who was angry with me for increasing

my own dosage and jumped my dosage which tossed me into hyperthyroidism

for a couple of weeks. Of course, he never knew what had happened

because there was never an opportunity to tell him the increase was too

much. I worried this was happening again. Of course, as it turned out,

the increased dosage at my last visit to him was all I needed. But the

stress of the situation was just too much. Using the recommended doctors

on this group list, I finally found a doctor who has time to listen to

me and a willingness to work with me. Now my increases are only about 2

mcgs at a time and I am optimized. I look forward to seeing the doctor

and my blood pressure doesn't shoot through the roof when I come in for

an appointment. It's a shame that my endo had a poor staff and a not so

great bedside manner. These things help a good doctor become a doctor

patients will happily recommend to others.
