Guest guest
Yeah, I do feel a little over medication, that's why I decided to decrease the meds. (Just a little) I am certain it's because of my supplements that I am taking. Which is a good thing! I'm glad that I am not the only one that has a missing nodule....ha ha Lynn At 02:03 PM 12/19/2005, you wrote: >Hi Lynn, > >I don't feel qualifed to comment on your blood test results (do you >feel overmedicated?) but I will tell you that I went for a follow-up >ultrasound 2 or 3 years after a nodule was found, and the technician >could not find anything in that area of the thyroid. Guest guest
Yes, no thanks to the " pain management " folks at MD , or the Endo. I can thank my trusty acupuncturist. But I do have Ultracet incase the pain comes back. That's because I can't tolerate anti-inflammatory's. Lynn At 03:26 PM 12/19/2005, you wrote: Has your thyroid pain decreased as well? Guest guest
It's spelled nodule. It's a " lump " in your thyroid. Not everyone has them. But a lot of people do. Especially if you have hashimoto's. I just happen to have one that was over 1cm, so the Dr's like to keep an eye on it. Lynn -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
Nodules under 1 cm can often be shrunk with a suppressive dose of thyroid hormone. Suppression gives you about a 50% chance of shrinking such a nodule. It is my personal, not medical opinion that more nodules could be shrunk if more docs were not so afraid of suppression.lcraig61 wrote: I had one the size of a pea, but after getting the proper dosage for several months, it disappeared.Loretta Yahoo! Guest guest
I've been on a suppressed dosage. I am betting that is how mine went away. The Dr's just don't want to admit that. Guest guest
I think I am a perfect example of that. But my Dr. doesn't seem to be worried about me being suppressed. I am the one who went down on my dose, fearing (and feeling) I was hyper. Lynn At 07:39 PM 12/25/2005, you wrote: Nodules under 1 cm can often be shrunk with a suppressive dose of thyroid hormone. Guest guest
Why would they be afraid of suppression? What are they afraid will happen? Dr. Noble felt my neck and said the thyroid seemed fine. I expected it to not feel right because in the past few years, I cannot stand to wear a turtlenech sweater or any shirt that comes up high or tight around my neck. Do other people feel that way? Guest guest
Most dr's are afraid that a suppressed TSH means osteoporosis, and a suppressed TSH usually freaks dr's because they instantly think......HyperT. Guest guest
I no longer have that problem after a subtotal thyroidectomy, but I did feel like that for many years. Guest guest
Don't all fall over dead, but........My Endo actually said that there are studies out, AND his belief is that a suppressed TSH does not mean you will have bone loss. Guest guest
wouldn't that be wonderful if they all got in synch and learned about how thyroid disease truly works and how taking thyroid hormones means TSH is a no-go & doesn't mean osteoporosis? I sometimes wonder if that'll ever happen in my life time. Dr's just don't know how to treat hyper anymore than they know how to treat hypo. Guest guest
There was a recent poster on our site looking for a good doc to treat hyper in the Houston area. I had to tell her I did not know of any in Houston or elsewhere. Do you?sandy wrote: wouldn't that be wonderful if they all got in synch and learned about how thyroid disease truly works and how taking thyroid hormones means TSH is a no-go & doesn't mean osteoporosis? Guest guest
He is one who treats a lot of thyca patients who have to be on suppression. So he knows the truth: very few folks have problems of any kind due to suppression.Lynn wrote: Don't all fall over dead, but........My Endo actually said that there are studies out, AND his belief is that a suppressedTSH does not mean you will have bone loss.LynnAt 02:36 PM 12/26/2005, you wrote: Most dr's are afraid that a suppressed TSH means osteoporosis, and a suppressed TSH usually freaks dr's because they instantly think......HyperT. Guest guest
What I do like about him, is that he kind of leaves the dosage of T3 to me. I've been able to adjust it somewhat. I don't think anyone in their right minds wants to be hyper. The feeling is horrible! I think he knows that. Lynn You're right he deals with only thyca patients, still don't know why he deals with me????? Guest guest
Could you please post (or email) his contact info and I will put him on the Cytomel part of the list. Why does he keep you as a patient? Hurthle cells were found. You could become a thyca patient at any time those puppies decide to go bad. It is good that you have him to monitor your situation. Too bad he does not prescribe Armour. I think you said you felt better on Armour than the synthetics. Lynn wrote: What I do like about him, is that he kind of leaves the dosage of T3 to me. Guest guest
I'm so scared that I will lose him. I FINALLY have my numbers in order. I pray nothing happens He works at a hospital, and does lots of research on thyroid cancer. He's done a few papers as well as spoke I don't want to say too many good things about him He did try to put me on Synthroid, but I quickly switched to Unithroid. I do feel that Armour wasn't the right drug for me, but that may have been because I wasn't on the correct dosage of T4 and T3......Lynn >Sounds like your doctor is a rare breed. -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
