Asthma & Sigh

Does anyone else experience this? When I'm sitting resting like watching tv all of a sudden I sigh like you have to take a deep breath in? thats the only way i can describe it. This happens on many occasions? I've only had this since having asthma. Is it asthma related or what? I once told my respiratory specialist & he said everyone yawns & sighs.CheersSharon

Hi Sharon,

I have had asthma all of my life. I experienced that phenomena when my

father died. The whole stress of the funeral, his sudden death, etc.

caused me to sigh all of the time, at that time....deep sighs. It may be

due to stress, and like Eliza said, it can be due to lack of oxygen

levels...much like the hiccups I get all of the time. It is bad enough

that I get the hiccups all of the time, but what is worse is that I try

every trick in the book to get rid of them, and they don't work.

hugs,

Cindi

seems to me a yawn/sigh is totally different from the 'coming up for air" breath. But someone without asthma isn't likely to catch onto this. JUst wanted to add something I forgot..... It really seems like getting through asthma has a lot to do with the family support. I have a severe case where I've got stuff going on everyday. This makes things very difficult, and it would be impossible to do much without family to help. If you can, I think it will help to make a conscious effort to help one another out in the family, and try to live on the cheap with them that way .
