Dear Tracey, I was on Advair because my MD gave me a free sample the first time. also he wrote me a c oople of refills for Advair. when I went to get one of the refills they told me that it will cost me $160.00 a refill. So I told him he could keep it because I couldn't afford it. Are you on any kind of insurance and how much does it cost where you are.traceyf1980 wrote: Hi EveryoneIm sure this has

been discussed on this board but thought that I would post to try and find out what to expect when switching from Advair to Flovent. I have been on Advair for a year and a half and have not had to use an emergency inhaler in that time. I have gotten a very hoarse throat along with a couple of infections of the throat and now just recently my MD did a swab of my mouth, and it tested positive for thrush. I did not have any white sores visible anywhere, all I had was a sore tongue. MD gave me these lozengers to take 5 times a day which I did..that is for 3 days and my stomach was so sick and upset from them that I stopped. Went back to MD and she did another swab...this one comes back negative!!?? I have nystatin to swish in my mouth which I have not done yet. MD switched me from Advair 250/50 to Flovent 44. I am taking this 2 puffs twice a day. Should I be noticing any "withdrawals" from the Advair. I have some joint

pain, I am very tired, still hoarse and have a mild sore throat still. I dont feel that its as easy to breath on this as I did the Advair....anyone who has been through this Advair-FLovent medication, please help!Tracey

Advair is two medications in one. It is Flovent and Serevent

together. So switching from Advair to Flovent you will be just

discontinuing the serevent. Serevent is a long lasting

bronchodilator. You will still need to rise out your mouth after

using Flovent. I hope you have some other bronchodilator to use if

you have an asthma attack.

I know of no plans to discontinue albuterol. In fact, Medicare just

stopped paying for Xopenex and has switched back to Albuterol for

respiratory patients as of July 1st. Xopenex is basicily half the

dose of albuterol. They take the albuterol and chemically cut off

part of the isotope to make Xopenex.

Are the side effects your talking about associated with the black box

warning on Advair and Serevent? If that's the case, The warning of

possible asthma related death is because people were trying to use

Advair and Serevent to reverse an asthma attack. These two drugs are

not rescue medications and not intended to be used for an acute

asthma attack.

I do have an albuteral inhaler that she told me to use if I feel that

Serevent diskus but told me not to fill it unless I didnt think the

Flovent was working. Now I really dont get it! If she took me off

the Advair and now has given me 2 presriptions for the same thing

that is in the Advair. I completely dont understand now?? I

definately am having side effects I am having headaches and tingling

and burning feelings in my hands. Please help with any knowledge you

have as to what I should do now. Thanks again

Hi Matt,

Just to let you know that I was on Albuterol. But thery have discontinued it here

in , Louisiana. I am almost sure nobody can get Albuterol here in Louisiana

at all."Matt Anders, RRT, AE-C, CPFT" wrote:
