Guest guest
Hey guys, Just wanted to send a quick note to introduce myself. My name is n, I'm 41 years old and I am new to the wonderful world of asthma. I was just diagnosed with sinusitis and asthma this year. Asthma doesn't run in either side of my family so it's pretty certain it's environmental. But that's where it gets scarier. I was in the World Trade Center on 9/11. I got out of the building unharmed (at least as far as I knew.) I was only a few blocks away when the first tower went down. There was no getting away from the dust cloud where I was and I got caught up in it. I know I should have covered up my mouth but after just watching thousands of people die, I wasn't really thinking about myself. I started wheezing shortly after that and that was the worst of it for a few years. But last year I started getting a chronic cough, post-nasal drip and sinus headaches. Then this year the shortness of breath started kicking in. After trying different medications and tests, I was diagnosed with asthma and sinusitis. I am now on Flunisolide for the sinusitis and Albuterol and Advair 230/21 inhaler for the asthma. It seems like every time I try a new medication, it definitely helps the asthma but as time goes on it helps less and less. I'm not sure if I'm building up a tolerance to the stuff or I'm losing the battle. So needless to say, I've been trying to find out as much as I can. And then I came to the realization that I can probably find out more from the people who have been there. So that's what brought me here. I look forward to getting to know you guys, tapping into your knowledge and maybe helping others out myself! Thanks for letting me join......... n
