, could you elaborate? maybe post the quotes of interest from

the chapter leaders list and mercola?

i find this interesting as i'm not a believer in the MTD but maybe i'm

wrong.

when i took the test it struck me that the test seemed to be asking me

my food PREFERENCES...

also, i think if people change their diet the body will eventually

adjust.

plus, my understanding is that your metab. type changes over time...so

what good is it, really???

tho, to each his own, of course, if someone swears by it then i say

good for them.

Hmm... I wasn't saying anything I haven't said before. I believe

_MTD_'s been trashed a good amount on this list in the past... all in

the archives.

I don't think it should be surprising to find a hefty amount of

criticism of it in WAPF circles since the maximum percentage of fat

allowed is 30%, which is WAPF's suggested minimum.

My main problems with it when I read it were:

-- He begins by distorting Price's research

-- He has a tendency to jump to conclusions and to make assertions

without evidence

-- He recommends too little fat and recommends consuming less fat than

protein for " protein types, " which is dangerous, and he does not have

a " fat type " at all, where a person should eat the majority or a

plurality of their calories as fat IIRC, he recommends reduced-fat

foods in it too.

-- His test is too subject to bias-- the reader can generally tell

which answers will be associated with which type, and once you answer

a few questions it becomes clear that all the answers associated with

a particular letter are associated with the same metabolic type

-- He makes major contradictions all over the place-- for example,

protein types should avoid vitamin A, but eat lots of liver, should

eat more protein than fat, but can eat eggs a source of protein (which

are 75% fat), etc.

What I said about Mercola not following it is that Mercola wrote a

newsletter a while ago where he said he found his optimal fat intake

to be 45% of calories, which is more than what is allowed in any of

the metabolic types in _MTD_. I guess Mercola is tweaking it.
