Kefir, water and plastics

Greetings,

I carry kefir in a [food-grade Rubbermaid] plastic bottle to work.

Does anyone know whether this can adversely affect the probiotics or cause any

other side

affects?

Also, I sometimes dilute my kefir with water because it is too thick.

I believe our tap water is quite chlorinated - can this kill the benefic

bacteria in the

kefir?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I doubt it's adversely affecting the probioticness of the kefir, but you're

exposing yourself to plastic and plasticizers (with estrogen-like effects)

without need. Just use a glass container.

Some of them, anyway, though if you heat the water first or even just let

it sit awhile first most of the chlorine will evaporate.
