Michel is said to have been its High Priest. Fans took to inserting " by Ghu " and such into their speech and writing. An opposing " religion, " based around FooFoo (derived from the Smokey Stover comic strip), arose soon after. Ghu was still used fairly often when I was active in fanzine fandom (c. 1969-1983).
